Hey Craig-- Hopefully you got our update yesterday. I didn't mention the digital download option though because I don't have a final answer on it yet. It wasn't an option we promised, but we did hope we'd be able to make it happen. There are several things that are still in play that affect whether or not we can make it a go, and we hope to have a definitive answer soon. I plan to address the issue in another update very soon.

I just attended the world premiere in LA and I found the movie to be completely endearing and true to Watterson's brilliance. Thank you Joel for giving me the opportunity to contribute to such a film.

Hey, Joel. I shook your hand a few minutes ago. Such comment probably doesn't help identify me at all on a day like this, but I'm super excited about the L.A. screening. Congrats again!

Hi Joel. Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this project and your updates so far – and I haven't even seen the film yet! Wishing I was L.A. rather than Phoenix this week and could make it over for the viewing. I'm working on a Kickstarter project of my own right now, and am in the middle of the daunting process of turning the concept and funding into a reality. Congrats on your incredible work on this great subject matter. I can't wait for my Blu-ray!

I own every Calvin and Hobbes, including the giant hardcover edition, my mother had made for me a stuffed Hobbes, I did a report on John Calvin, just because he was Calvin's namesake, and this past Halloween I dressed up my son as Calvin, giving him my stuffed Hobbes to hold. Calvin and Hobbes has touched my life in so many ways. I have made friends because of it, simply by saying "This is so stupid" after someone said "This is so cool." Thank you for making this film, and I look forward to everything in it.

      Thanks!

As soon as I found out about this, I pledged $50. Glad to see that the project is more than funded and will moving forward!

I grew up reading and loving Calvin and Hobbes and actually have a copy of the final strip (which, in my hometown paper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, was accompanied by a note from Watterson that, along with the actual comic, takes up the entire front page of the comics section) framed and in my office.

We'd like to make the film available on iTunes eventually, but we don't have a timeline on when that will happen. We'll be exploring all options as things progress. You can check out our FAQ for more information about a digital download pledge tier.

This is an awesome project! I got the Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes when I was 8 and I was hooked. I still have all of the collections and I will share them with my 2 month old son when he is old enough to read. I am interested in the licensing offers that were made to Mr. Watterson over the years. Also documented infringers. I used to have a Cellblock Brand, Hellraiser Skateboard Deck that featured a depiction of Calvin as Pinhead from Hellraiser films. He was also holding a Hobbes that was all cut up and missing stuffing on the graphics. Unfortunately I lent it to a "friend" and they lost it. I myself am starting my own brand of skateboards and snowskates. I researched a while if I could license that image to use for the Charity Origination I am founding's decks. I totally respect Mr. Watterson, and admire his work with all my soul! This is the coolest thing I have found in such a long time online. Nice work to Joel and I cant wait to see the film!!!

When my son, Robert, now 22, was in Middle School, he had to do a project representing himself. It had to include a favorite quote. He narrowed down his choices to two, and unable to decide on just one, he ended up including them both. One was from Calvin and Hobbs. "What fun is it to be popular if you can't wear a sombrero?" (sic) The other quote was from Albert Einstein. "Imagination is more important than intelligence." His girlfriend gave him the complete Calvin and Hobbs Collection (hardcover) for Christmas last year. What a great influence this "comic strip" has been on an awesome kid/adult.

So pleased your reached your goal! As a child, my daughter had ADHD and little interest in school, but did have a wicked sense of humor. When I learned of her love of Calvin & Hobbes, I bought her every anthology I could find. She read little else at that time, but at least she was reading. Thank you for doing this documentary and recognizing the impact of Mr. Watterson's work.
