An immigrant from Guatemala since he was nine years old, he is a worthy example of one living with American hopes, complete with big dreams, willing hands and a mindset to not be afraid to work to achieve it, with the assistance of the universe’s graces. If you ask, he can make it happen. He has a gift to see one’s greatness and help them see what is possible.
Upon returning from a two-year volunteer mission to Chicago in 1988, Fernando played backup quarterback at BYU, where he experienced glory days most men would love to have in their history. Not an amazingly large man, Fernando realized quickly that speed was very important, specially when a 230 lb. linebacker was looming behind.
A filmmaker from the day he first lay hands on a 8mm movie camera, Fernando recently discovered his love of writing having completed a full length script titled "Look Deeply" which he produced, directed and shot in the small town of Nampa Idaho in 2007. Currently the project is on hold until funds can be raised for post production.
His loves include an eclectic range of music, a BBQ with friends, mowing perfect stripes in his lawn and his four incredible children. He spent two memorable years at NYU, not far from where he grew up. He is set to finally become a citizen of the United States in the fall of 2010.
