What Is Wikiary.net?

So what exactly is Wikiary.net? Good question!

Wikiary.net is an online collaborative creative writing website or, essentially, a literary wiki!

Have you ever wanted to see what direction someone else might take a story or characters you started? Or have you ever had a great plot idea, but couldn’t figure out exactly how to get going? Wikiary.net allows creative minds the opportunity to make new adventures together.

At Wikiary.net, users are able to create new works, edit existing works, or just give someone else a great plot idea. Users can also comment on existing works, flesh out existing characters, edit grammar, or write a new chapter to an existing story. In addition to stories, Wikiary.net also lets authors work on plays, poetry, screenplays, or create entire universes in the fantasy and science fiction genres!

In addition to being a literary wiki, Wikiary.net also has a social network built into the site, making collaborating on stories with your friends that much easier. Also, based on Community member feedback, Wikiary.net recently added the Classroom and Portfolio services. The Classroom service allows groups of people to post, edit, and comment on stories within their group; completely separate from the rest of the Community. The Portfolio service lets members add completed stories they have written. The stories can be viewed by anyone, but only the owner has the ability to edit them.

So What Is The Project?

You might be wondering if Wikiary.net already exists, what's the actual project? Another great question! You're on a roll!

When we originally launched Wikairy.net in January, we did so with a very limited budget. Through hard work and A LOT of trial and error we were able to turn a small, simple idea into a reality. We are really proud of what we have accomplished thus far and would really like to get the word out about our site. We aren't necessarily looking to make money from Wikiary.net, but we would love for it to be self-sufficient.

So basically: Our project is to add 100 new members and 50 new contributions to our site.

And How Exactly Do You Plan To Do That?

Wow, another excellent question! That is where Kickstarter and, hopefully, you come in!

With the money we raise via Kickstarter, we will use approximately $200 towards the purchase of a new Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire will be the prize for a new submissions contest. Each valid submission will give the Community member who submitted it an entry into the contest. After the contest has concluded, a Community member that has contributed to the site will be randomly chosen to win the Kindle Fire. New content generated by this contest will make Wikiary.net and our Community more active and would give more incentive for a "passer by" to stop and read or join the Wikiary.net Community themselves. Our hope is the contest for the Kindle Fire will bring in  at least 100 new members and 50 new submissions.

Any remaining funds above the cost of the Kindle Fire will be used for internet based marketing and advertising via Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, and Microsoft AdCenter. Based on limited use of Facebook Ads and Google Adwords, via promotional credits, Wikiary.net saw a significant increase in traffic and new Community members.

Salvatore recently visited Wikiary.net and wrote via email, "Cool idea - I checked the site and you might have some fun with this."
