If you don't follow the webcomic, I strongly encourage you to check it out every Tuesday and Thursday. There have been some MAJOR changes in the production of the strip as well as some huge developments in its future.
The most significant change is the 95% digital workflow that has allowed me to ditch the drawing markers and high-end Bristol paper in order to ink/color my episodes using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator. This upgrade has been instrumental in my revising older episodes (and subsequently this book) to give it more vibrant colors, line art and overall "punch."
It also makes it easier to create elements for animation, which is the other development...
APNF is being developed into an animated series. I'm working on the pilot episode with my friend / long-time collaborator, Todd Kelley. This is not clever GIFs you see on your friend's Tumblr or Facebook wall - we're on that Adult Swim level. The animated series is a game changer for not only the comic, but also for the music that inspires it.
So don't be surprised when...okay, I've said too much already.
On top of that, I've been creating new designs for merchandise as I've been getting a LOT of requests for T-shirts, tanks, coffee mugs, etc.
So there's that.
This plethora of positive, yet work intensive developments, are one of many reasons the book has been moving at a snail's pace. The new workflow process, animation, merchandising, work, life, etc. has been keeping me running on all cylinders almost 24/7. I'm tweaking the book a little bit everyday; just not as much as I'd like to be. Thank God there's a light at the end of the tunnel...and it's not a train :P
Although this is Update #20something, I have really sucked at posting updates because I wanted to do video, but the editing process is ridiculous. Honestly, I'm a perfectionist and that's what it boils down to...nevertheless PUG PLEASE! WILL HAPPEN THIS SUMMER and IT WILL BE EPIC.
