To our lovely supporters,
Thank you so much for supporting The Three Astronauts project! Each donation has meant the world to us because it means that you believe in the project just as we do. Updates have been virtually non-existent from us just because of the sheer amount of work that comes with developing this project and working with international teams. So I'd like to take this time to share with all of you what we have been up to these past few months!
Last month, Ye Xiaogang, our Chinese team composer, was recently selected to receive a prestigious honor, a Guggenheim Fellowship! While he was here in NYC to receive the award, we held a reception to honor his achievement and to introduce him to our circle of closest friends. (See below for pictures, Ye Xiaogang is the handsome man in the orange shirt).
We have cemented our relationship with Liu Sola, and she is supremely excited to begin work as the Chinese team writer.
Most recently, Alexander Tchaikovsky has agreed to come on board as the Russian team composer.
Camille Assaf, who has worked with Ardea Arts before, will be coming back as the costume designer for The Three Astronauts. We can't wait to see what she will come up with for our Martian!
The Director for this project, Grethe Barrett Holby, has been invited to speak as part of a panel at the upcoming Opera America conference. She will be speaking about New Works for Young Audiences and how we can still perform high quality work while engaging audiences of all ages.
We have also been working on cementing our logo and creating a website for The Three Astronauts with our marketing team at ThinkSo. The website should be up in just a few weeks.
In addition to all of this, we have been applying to grants left and right, working with Santa Fe Opera to host this first workshop, creating contracts with the artists, and just generally promoting our project to anybody and everybody!
Updates will now be coming up more frequently as the project progresses. Please keep in touch with us, and for the most current updates on the project, like us on facebook or follow us on twitter @ardeaarts or @threeastronauts !
