Update #26: We Could Never Have Done This Without You
Hi Backers,
Although we began and completed this project over a year ago, we just wanted to send out another thank you for everything you gave to help us make this film a reality.
Because of you, we have achieved:
-Domestic and International Distribution less than a year after principal photography began (a major coup for a production company's first crack at a feature);
-Numerous accolades and critical acclaim from the top genre and film blogs, including Aint It Cool...? News, Dread Central, Fangoria, Daily Variety, and many, many more;
-Several awards at major film festivals, including "Best Horror Feature" and both the Phoenix International Film Festival and L.A. Shriekfest, as well as "Best Narrative Feature" at the Sonoma International Film Festival, where "Absentia" became the first horror film in Sonoma's history to ever clench the top prize;
-Multiple doors opened to the filmmaker, creative team, and cast.
Long story short, we are insanely grateful for your help, and as we all move on to different projects, know that we couldn't have gotten here without generosity and overall faith in our project. Thank you, thank you for believing in Mike Flanagan, FallBack Plan, and this little horror film we made and love, "Absentia."
Take care, and in case we haven't said it enough, thank you!
-Your Friends from FallBack Plan and "Absentia."
Update #25: ABSENTIA backers, watch your mailbox!
Hi there "Absentia" supporters,
The overwhelming majority of the Kickstarter prizes have been sent, and should be arriving very soon if they haven't already. Thanks again for your support on this project. Our Kickstarter drive ended a year ago this weekend, and what a year it's been! The film has been met with overwhelming critical praise, a handful of awards, an exciting North American distribution deal, and we're just now finalizing our international distribution as well. None of this would have been possible without you, and it's a real pleasure to finally put this project to bed.
If you're one of the backers who received a DVD of the film, please let us know what you think by rating/reviewing the film on IMDB.
Oh behalf of the cast and crew, thanks again, so much. And that's a wrap.
Morgan, Mike, Justin & Joe

Update #22: The Finish Line
Hi Friends!
"Absentia" is nearing its completion. The sound design and color timing are underway, and visual effects will be added soon.
So, we just wanted to let you know were working away, and that the next phase of our project will be:
GETTING YOU YOUR SWEET REWARDS! WAHOO!!!
So, expect another update in the next couple of weeks, while we figure out the logistics of getting you your cool stuff.
One important note: Those of you getting a completed version of the film, we ask that you please be patient. We won't be able to get you a copy until "Absentia" officially premieres and garners a distribution date. But don't worry: Your copy of the film will be secure!
Much Love!

Update #21: Rough Cut Complete
Hi Gang!
Just a quick note to let you all know the rough cut has been completed, and we are heading into reshoot territory!

Update #20: Post, Post, lots of Post.
Hi Friends!
We're cooking along.
FallBack Plan has our own YouTube channel now, and I invite you to all take a look at the site to see some new "Behind the Scenes" footage on the filming of "Absentia." Check it out here:
www.youtube.com/fallbackplanfilm
As for post-production, we are taking it one day at a time. The film is cutting together nicely, and we're seeking out a sound designer to add those "oh-so-important" horror sound FX.
More to come!
As for those of you getting various printable prizes, fret not: we're working on a plan to get all of that along to you in the near future.
Thanks so much for everything, and more to come soon!
Love,
The "Absentia" team

Update #15: The Final Countdown
Friends!
We are a mere 14 hours away from ending the "Absentia" pledge drive. It has been a nail-biting and humbling experience for us here at FallBack Plan, and we are grateful for all of your generous help. We have made over $22,000 in pledges to help us realize our film, and as a result, now have the tools available to make "Absentia" a reality.
We're still closing in on trying to raise $25,000 or more by the end of the drive...a lofty but not unrealistic goal. So, if you're inclined to spread the word about us in the next 14 hours, we'll gladly take your help.
Also, check out the final "5-Drive" PSA featuring our star, Courtney Bell...she'll tell you and your friends how to get personalized, autographed memorabilia featuring the one and only DOUG JONES!
As always, thank you so much for your faith, generosity, and belief in "Absentia." It's going to knock your socks off.
With love,
Justin, Morgan, and Mike

Update #14: Humbled.
With 8 days to go on our pledge drive, we are ecstatic with the amount of support we have received. As of right now, we have made just over $19,000--and we are floored by the generosity of you, our backers.
So far, your generous contributions will enable us to:
-Secure location permits for the scary tunnel in Glendale (featured in the "Absentia" teaser trailer);
-Secure our studio location at Silver Dream in Laguna Nigel, CA for the vital police and hospital interiors;
-Enable the rental of police vehicles for a major crime scene in the film;
-Pay for the services of the AMAZING DOUG JONES.
We are on a roll, people. And we couldn't have made it this far without your help.
We are pushing for a final minimal goal of $25k by the end of our time here on Kickstarter, so please spread the word!
And again, thank you, so much. To quote Mr. Jones, "There's love..."
Gratefully,
Justin, Morgan, and Mike.
Update #13: YOUR PRIZES
Hi all,
We're still hearing some confusion regarding the prizes. We're finding that it seems dozens of people are expecting a batch of Katie's cookies, while only 6 batches have actually been claimed!
So we thought we'd send this little update so that there no sad tummies in the future.
Our standard incentives tend to have a cumulative nature, where higher pledges mean you also get the prizes listed on the lower levels (special thanks credit, autographed scripts, etc.) The Limited Prizes described in the videos, like dinner cooked by Dave Levine ($200), Katie Parker's Heroine Cookies ($45), the Walk-On Rolls ($350), and the MIssing Posters ($99), and the super awesome sock puppet ($125) were indeed intended to be a la cart, limited prizes and only had a few available, and are almost entirely sold out.
To claim the limited prizes, they need to be manually selected when you enter your pledge. If you pledge more than the amount for the a la cart prizes, we want to make sure you also get the "generic" prizes you're entitled to - but if you select the $150 option, it doesn't automatically mean you get the cookies - those have to be selected manually.
IT'S EASY TO FIX!! And, we want to make sure everybody gets exactly what they want for their pledge (while also making sure that Katie Parker isn't suddenly obliged to cook and ship 250 batches of cookies, rather than the 10 batches we're offering). SO, if you've pledged and wanted to receive the cookies, or the sock puppet, but selected a different prize package, it's a snap to fix. Just go to "MANAGE YOUR PLEDGE" and select the limited prize you want.
If you expected to be receiving more prizes than are allotted in that category, drop us a line and we promise we'll make sure you're covered!
Sorry for the confusion and contact us with any questions - we're so amazed by the response, and don't want anyone to be disappointed once the goodies are shipped!
Mike, Morgan, and Justin
Update #12: Prizes!
Hello, Absentia Supporters!
We've gotten a few emails in the last day or so regarding some confusion over the prizes. We just wanted to make sure you guys are all getting the reward you want, which doesn't happen automatically when you pledge a certain amount. Make sure you selected the prize you desire and if for whatever reason you didn't, you can do so at any time (and even change your selected prize package) by clicking the "Manage My Pledge" button on the home page.
We're hearing this is a problem in particular with Katie Parker's HeroinE cookies, so if you pledged $45 or higher and clicked a different prize package make sure to change it over in order to receive your delicious treats.
Please bear in mind also that while normal pledge prize categories include the items from the previous levels of prizes (the "all of the above" part of the description), they do NOT include whatever limited incentives might have come before them (like the missing posters, the cookies, etc), which can only be obtained by clicking the specific prize button for those limited items.
If you have a question or concern about your prize package don't hesitate to contact us at mflana1@yahoo.com.
Best and thanks again for your support!
Morgan, Justin, and Mike

FallBack Plan Productions was formed in the fall of 2009 by Morgan Peter Brown and Justin Gordon, graduates of the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Illinois. Their goal is simple and direct: to create thought-provoking and engaging films which champion up-and-coming writers, directors, and actors. By creating opportunity for the many talented friends and colleagues they have met and worked with over the past several years, Brown and Gordon hope that FallBack Plan will set a new benchmark for independent cinema.
That is AMAZING! Congratulations!!! I can't wait to see it. Let us know when it's going to be showing or dvd or vod or whatever.
So very, happy to hear! Congrats to all of you!
