Success!
Here's a video update about the success of the Kickstarter and what to expect now.
Here's a quick summary:
- We reached all of our stretch goals
- It will be a few months before development starts because we're getting a house and everyone has to move
- I'm starting to work on the rewards, but don't expect everything right away
- People that missed the Kickstarter can still pledge money through Paypal.
- Thanks!

That's fair. My apologies for not being more specific, too.
The project that had trouble with Paypal is Yogventures, as communicated in this update: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/winterkewlgames/yogventures/posts/247602
There was also this situation with an independent developer last year, although their policy may have changed since then: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/10/xenonauts-devs-paypal-account-locked-down-and-closed-for-180-days/
However, other game vendors do appear to accept pre-orders through paypal just fine. I just felt a duty to warn you; you can do with it what you wish. Anyway, good luck, and looking forward to the resulting game. :)

Definitely looking forward to playing this. Congrats on the successful Kickstarter!

Really glad it made it to 50k, even if just barely. I'm not much of a documentary person, but watching your Let's Play video series makes me think that being able to follow your game making process would be well worth the time and extra funding. Congratulations, good luck with the move, and I look forward to seeing the first documentary installment!

Wow, you sound SO excited in this video :P

I got the idea from Double Fine Adventure. They're doing it and they're way bigger than us so it should be fine. You're also paying for services like the private forum and the documentary which will start somewhat soon so I don't think it will be a problem.
Creator Zack Averyt on July 20, 2012
@Aaron: Is it, now? That's interesting, because Namco is currently taking preorders on a limited edition of an upcoming PS3 game, and PayPal is a payment option (and the one I used, to boot). Odd that this would be okay under some circumstances but not others.
Creator Aaron Ritter on July 20, 2012
I recommend caution and making sure Paypal is okay with this use of their service. One of the other Kickstarter projects i backed reported that Paypal froze their account until the product is released because it's a violation of Paypal's terms to use it for "preorders".
