On Friday last week I had the chance to skype with the factory and I have agreed to open molds for the speaker box, the grill, the back panel and we're waiting for the samples to green light the PCB mold. What it basically mean is that we're one step closer to get going.
We are now waiting for samples. They are necessary to verify the sound and behavior of the electronics. Passing inspection I'll give green light for the PCB mold. And than we're on! They will be sending out the samples within a day or two. I will do a quick update when that happens.
I have ordered the woofers from the vendor and today I visit with the wood shop. We are looking for a better source for the bamboo otherwise Rich has to plane down almost 1/4" of every plank and that will take forever and eat up the planer cutter.
I know that you guys need an answer to that question. Why does it make sense to send out a whole set of speakers without Concert Mode and than re-send out the ones with Concert Mode?
Well my logic is following: If I send it out the way we have it now, you, the majority of you, will really enjoy the speakers. And that is most important to me. Once the updated Bluetooth module is ready, I consider it part of my gratitude to you, to fulfill my pledge as promised. And even though one might point out that I will lose money, I consider it an investment into the brand, a reflection of the way I want to treat you and everyone else. It is really a reflection of how I would like to be treated. And I will also get whole lot of feedback from you and be able to address things I am not even aware of.
It might not be optimal from a monetary stand point but is the right approach from a loyalty stand point. And I am aware of international shipping as well. So this is the reason I want to execute this way! It will be easier to wait when you have something to listen to :)
The retail packaging design is done, you will get a chance to see it when it comes in with the samples.
So what next?
We will have a shift towards Anaconda with more and more coverage of it's creation in the next few weeks
We should have some samples for Original that I will review and share with you
We are working on updating the website to HTML5 and CSS to include a semi-blog (probably the posterous one I repeat the same writing from here) and a seamless shopping cart.
I wish you all a great week and thank you again for being here with me.
