Create a film in 48 hours. From start to finish. Document it, and create a "making of" featurette, to share the experience!
THANKS YOU SO MUCH for considering to help me with this project!! Please enjoy the video above and my work samples in the links below.
Project Outline:
I will be making a film in only 48 hours for the Portland 48 Hour Film Project... the creative process doesn't start until the 48 hours starts August 10th at 6:00pm. I can't cover all the costs of food, gas, props, wardrobe, and unforseen expenses related to creating a last minute story. I need a little financial assistance to make sure it goes smoothly and ensure we have options to tell a good story. To those willing to help, I am willing to share the film, AND the experience of making the movie through the "Making of" featurette!
There will be a local screening of the 48 Hour Film Projects in Portland. http://www.48hourfilm.com/en/portland_oregon/
Come watch what we make. Tickets will be sold. Theatre will be filled!
I will be creating:
1. 48 Hour Short Film
2. 48 Hours: A Film Project featurette (The Making Of the 48 Hour Short Film)

WHY back a film, when I know nothing about it?
It's not just about the story of this particular movie, so much as it is about the experience of creating a movie in a short amount of time, and then documenting the experience. When you back this project, not only can you get a copy of the short film I make, but you also have the opportunity to share in our crazy adventure to make this short film, and what it's like, through "The Making Of" featurette, titled 48 Hours: A Film Project, which will include our trials and tribulations as we seek to make the best movie possible. We'll do interviews and talk about how we went through the process. No doubt it will be stressful, and the prospect of failing to make the 48 hours will be looming over us. Want to give a little more? We will save some special footage for a Special Blue-Ray edition, so you can enjoy the short film and behind the scenes footage in High Definition, and with bonus features!
Sound crazy?? IT IS! The exhilaration of creating a film from concept to completion in under 48 hours is utterly ridiculous. And I love it! I might not be able to get through it without your help!!
Okay. What DO you know about the short movie, then?
It has to be made in 48 hours or less. It will be documented with another camera for a "making of' featurette. We will be assigned a random genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue. It will have a sci-fi element. It will have at least one visual effects shot. It will have cinematic style music by composer Tim Cox and music by the intensely legit band Spiritual Plague. It will have an awesome animated credits sequence. The film will be shot on a Sony V1U professional camera, and a Canon 7D. Editing and visual effects will be done with Adobe Production Studio, and we will have talented local actors from Portland, Oregon.
What happens if you fail to get funded?
It could be a disaster. Because actors must be volunteers, if I can't at least feed them, what if they take a break from which they never return! If anyone quits on me, the film dies. In addition, we will be severely limited in where we can shoot, and the quality of the film and selling of a story will suffer from lack of options. The money will be used to expand the quality of the film and ensure that everything goes smoothly. Primarily it will be used to secure props that make the story believable, transportation, food, and rentals/fee's that may be encountered.
What if I get overfunded?
I only have a week to do this. I don't anticipate exceeding the goal by any notable measure. I do, however, really hope to reach my goal. If however, we do blow our goal out of the water, it will go towards equipment upgrades/rentals, Dolby Digital license, and resources to make the movie better. Things like a wide angle lens for the camera, a tabletop dolly, or perhaps an umbrella to protect my camera if it rains. (This is Oregon, folks, summer or not, it rains!)... And of course... rewards!
Yup. I'd also like a Red Epic... no? It's only $60k. Wait, where are you going? Hey! Come baaaaack! Ha ha, Yeah. All joking aside, Red cameras are pretty epic (no pun intented)... I'd probably make a film about kittens. Epic kittens. And Ninjas. But you wouldn't see the Ninjas because... they're Ninjas.
You don't have enough time to get funded! Kickstarter takes 2 weeks to pay!
I have confirmed with my bank that I can get a cash advance if I know my goal will be reached.
LETS DO THIS!
I have a solid team, good equipment, and many years of experience creating video content. We're just about ready to go!!
To help maintain the integrity of the 48 hour time limitation, we will be given a RANDOM genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue, provided by The 48 Hour Film Project. I will share these things with you as they become available.
The better funding we have, the better the movie can be. The 48 hour timeframe is fast approaching! Help us out, and share in our experience as we struggle to stay awake for 48 hours straight to do something amazing!
