      Bill,
Thanks for contacting us. It is not unrealistic to get your 11"x17" (not 11"x14".. :) by the middle of May. We have been telling folks that they will be able to redeem their woodblock rewards after the site is live in April, but if you already have a design ready we can do it sooner. We could also make you a second block before then. The thickness of the blocks are 3/8". Will you be using it in a letterpress? Images should be at least 300dpi or larger. The golden rule of laser engraving is: quality in = quality out. A higher quality image makes a higher quality woodblock. Your design needs to be purely black and white with no grayscales! A PDF or a PNG would work best for us. We will have all kinds of image and file tips and requirements once the site is live. Please contact us at: etchpop(at)gmail.com and we can continue the discussion of your blocks over email. Thanks again Bill!

      Marshall & Chester,
Congratulations on reaching (and exceeding) your goal. Now I see you're going to be VERY busy cutting over 519 blocks. My question involves the timing. Is it too unrealistic to expect my 11" x 14" block by the middle of May? I'm planning for it to be part of an exhibition in early June. Also, would it be possible to buy a second block at this time or would I need to wait until all the pledges are filled. Also, I don't see an answer to Candice Kim's question about the thickness of the block itself - is it "type high" (industry standard of 0.918") or are they 3/4" thick or something other? And Mustard's question about image requirements is also something that I would like to know. What kind of image files will you be needing? If this works out like I think it will, I would become a regular customer. Wishing you all the best of success, I am
      yours truly,

      Bill Evaul

Will these be type-high (the height of a piece of lead type, standardized as 0.918 inches)?

If you would like, I can volunteer my services as a professional graphic designer for fliers. You just give me the information you want on it and I'll get to work! I could supply the finished product as a pdf that you could sent to people to print out. I think this is a fantastic idea and believe you will do well. I just want to help out. You can see my portfolio at www.erinknolan.com

Marshall - I want to help you with fund-raising. Do you have an informational flyer for distribution?! Talking to people about your project works SO much better if you have an informational flyer to give them that references them back to here and etchpop.com. If you don't already have one, please make one, and I want a large handful of them. Getting them this week would be VERY good. I'll be seeing a lot of people this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I'm sure I can get some bites if I have flyers. (You can give them to Tricia and I'll pick them up from her.) Thanks and love you!

This is a pretty neat idea! I have a lot of ideas to make some cool prints, but don't have the means to make the blocks myself. This would be great for me! Good luck!
