Update #4: Website is up and running!
Hi everyone! The ERL site is all finished and ready to view. All specimens are completed and ready to purchase! Thanks to you all!!!!
I have sent out as many of the rewards as possible. I have sent all but 5. 4 of you have not yet given me your addresses, and one of you picked an artwork that I will not have returned to me from an exhibition until next weekend. That artwork goes to K.B. and I promise to ship that out to you next Monday (unless you'd like to meet for coffee - and I can give it to you personally.)
Check out the website when you get a chance and let me know what you think!
Update #3: Yesterday and Today
Last night, five giant boxes of glass Erlenmeyer flasks arrived! They are sitting in my living room taking up a lot of real estate. But I don't care - I'm so happy! Woo hoo!
Then, in today's mail, I got my special "Thank You" cards so I can start writing my personal notes to some of my backers. Everything will be going in the mail mid-week next week. Thank you all for being patient. I had hoped to get everything out by the 15th, so I'm a tad late, but I'm close. I also had pneumonia, so you'll have to excuse the slight tardiness.
Not all my backers have responded, so I will send out some reminders and get the rest in the mail. I'm starting on it today! Yaye!
Update #2: Fully Funded!
Hurray! I'm fully funded! Thanks to all of YOU! I'm one lucky ducky. I cannot thank you all enough!
I have started the new website already: http://etherealresearch.org and you can check it out. The collection is not all there yet, but it will be by December 15th -- that is my goal anyway.
December 15th is also my goal to have all your rewards in the mail as well. Perhaps sooner. It also takes a few days before Kickstarter transfers all the funds into my Amazon account, as some backers have some issues with their accounts and what not, so it takes a bit of time to get things square. Just be patient.
Once I have the funds in-hand, I can order the glass beakers, have them shipped and get to work!
In the meantime, I'll be working on the other rewards, getting them ready for the mail. I am so grateful for everyone's contribution on this. You have no idea what this means to me! THANK YOU again!
Yours,
Carol Es
Update #1: Fully Funded with 33 Days to go!
Hi Everyone, and thank you all so very much for your pledges! I really appreciate all the help each and everyone of you have given me for this project.
With 33 days to go, I will not be receiving the funds until the term ends, so until then, I will be working on the new website and begin preparing some of the rewards for my backers.
Should I receive any additional pledges before the term is up, I will be using the funds for shipping, and if I get enough extra money, I will either add an additional specimen to the edition, or make one or more of the editions larger - depending on how much finding I receive.
The rewards will stay the same, and I can start posting the exact samples of the specimen beakers in the next couple weeks when I get the website up and running.
Thanks again! :)

I am a self-taught, mixed media artist working in Los Angeles, CA. I grew up in the apparel industry with my dysfunctional family and worked as a pattern cutter. Dreams, childhood memory, and the materials from the garment manufacturing trade creep into my artwork as a type of redemption. Art has become a methodical, visionary activity I've used to distract myself from all the bullshit I've had to encounter, and a saving grace I use to reconstruct what wasn't. You can see my artwork on my website to see what the hell I'm talking about.
