About this project
Hey, ever think you would grow up to be a record label? One day you would be able to tell your friends, "I mean, that album would not have gotten off the ground without the green light from me"? Well, here is your chance (kind of). My name is Eric Reitz and I need your help recording my new album! Two years ago I released my first album, 12 (South), and since then I have been traveling the country, meeting amazing people, and seeing some beautiful sights (people included!). After two years, and a bunch of new songs, it is time to take to a studio and record another album to send off into the world. Because I am an independent musician, I come to you to be a part of this next album (the psuedo-label). I have prepared some very cool rewards for your generosity and support, and I invite you with open arms to become a part of the project.
As you will see, on the right side of your computer (---->) there is a list of treats ready for the taking. Everything from pre-released digital downloads of the upcoming album to your voice on the actual cd (yeah, for real!). I also have some cool things like handwritten lyric books, private Skype sessions and house concerts with homemade goodies (empanadas...). I am extremely happy to be sharing this experience with you and I cannot wait to deliver both the rewards and the final album.
To wet the whistle, here is a list of some of the potential songs that are ready to be captured and put onto a record:

For those unfamiliar with recording costs, here is the breakdown of where the dollar bills go:
1. Studio Time (This album will require many hours in the studio with world-class producers and engineers)
2. Studio Musicians (bringing in local and nationally known musicians will be key to the album’s success…cannot skimp here!)
3. Mixing and Mastering (polished songs = tasty ear candy)
4. Duplication (What fun is digital music? Can’t throw digital music like ninja stars, right?)
5. Publicity (launching the music and broadcasting it for the world)
And most of it will be done with this guitar:

I have set the goal at $8,500 for this album. Each penny is extremely important and, as noted in the video, Kickstarter is an all or nothing deal! So if we don't raise at least $8,500 we get absolutely nothing. Additionally, if we earn more money we can put more tunes on the album, maybe even do a music video and fund a national tour...how does that sound? The options are wide open (and limitless) once we reach our target amount, and goodies (non-edible) will surely be delivered.
Meeting you and having the pleasure of playing for you all have been amazing gifts and I am so honored for the opportunity. I truly believe that we can make a great album and there is no better way than through Kickstarter. So, it’s with humility and gratitude that I come to you and ask you to join me on what will be an amazing endeavor. There will be pictures and blogs pulling you through the entire way, which truly makes this a joint experience. I look forward to sharing this album with you and I am so thankful for all you have done.
With great appreciation,
Eric

Eric Reitz is a Virginia-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist working on his second studio album. Like a lot of children, Eric's earlier musical pursuits were aimed at the piano (based mostly on the desires of his parents). Even though he gave it two separate attempts, Eric didn't quite take to the instrument. While practicing the piano he would dream about the guitar and all of the "awesomeness" it embodied. And so, after wearing down his parents and casting off the piano, he rented a lightning bolt-inspired black guitar and began to shred (sort of). Guitar in hand, Eric started to take lessons at the local music shop. Like many realities born from dreams, his perception didn't quite live up to the fantasy, and he quit. In fact, he quit twice (with just a few months in between each departure). A few years went by and Eric saw an acoustic guitar propped up against the wall in his brother's room and decided to give it another try. This time the bond between instrument and young man was a little different. From that point Eric dedicated his time to practicing the guitar (and throwing in some vocals) and performing for whomever would listen. In the fall of 2009 he recorded his first self-produced album, 12 (South). Now, armed with new songs, he looks to you for help making his second album. You can listen to his music and watch live performance video at www.ericreitz.com.
