About this project

The Redeemers has been living in my head for six years. I’ve finally found the perfect artist, Wil Brendel, and now we need help to make the idea a reality.

The Redeemers are Gabriel Kroeller (guitar / vocals / half-angel), Neil Haft (bass / were-beast), and Dexter Powell (drums / second or third greatest sorcerer of the age). They tour the country, rocking the faces off their fans while protecting them from demons, ninjas, sorcerers, and the occasional death-assassin robo-groupie. Why? Because they hope that by saving everyone else, they can finally save themselves.

I have plenty of stories to tell about The Redeemers (don’t even get me started on the story arc where they all record solo albums a la KISS or the one about the “battle of the bands” with The Condemners and The Seducers) but we have to start somewhere. And that somewhere is here. I’ve self-published a preview issue (#0) that has gotten some press (http://www.wizardworld.com/re0tastexatc.html) and will be available at the Chicago Comic-Con this August. At the show, we’ll also have art prints for sale and a limited number of 2-song EPs by the band. I want to keep any buzz we get from the show going, so I am looking to self-publish the first four full issues of the series. This is going to cost a not inconsiderable amount of money – Wil’s page rate (so he can put this project ahead of other paying work), printing costs, shipping costs, and on and on. To that end, I am trying to raise $10,000. This will comfortably allow us to create and publish a decent sized run of the first four issues. The current publishing schedule looks like this:

Issue #1 – 10/28/2009
Issue #2 – 1/6/2010
Issue #3 – 3/17/2010
Issue #4 – 5/26/2010

As you can see, we’d be publishing more or less bi-monthly starting at the end of October. Hopefully, by the time that Issue #3 is at the printers, we’ll be able to self-sustain (or find a publisher willing to back us if sales are strong).

Wil and I have all sorts of cool rewards cooked up for funders – autographed band “photos”, exclusive songs, access to the tour blog, even appearing in the comic book itself! We want to make The Redeemers a reality and we’d love if you could help us!
