A Greater Hope: Portraits from a Rural Cambodian Orphanage
The Children: In February 2010, I spent some time in a tiny rural village in Cambodia at a local orphanage, getting to know 35 amazing children whose childhood stories could wound your hearts forever. The faces on the photographs I returned home with were so hopeful, vivid and cheerful—one could hardly understand the optimistic smiles of these children when hearing the incredibly painful trials they had been through.
The book: The 74-page photography book is imprinted with the gorgeous faces of 31 of these brave children, decorated with their hands and feet, and etched with the script of their personal tales. Your generous donations will fund the publishing and printing of the book and photography prints—100% of the profits will be donated directly to A Greater Hope in order to help fund the building of a new school for the village, to give its beautiful children a better education and future.

The Orphanage: A Greater Hope Orphanage, located in the Temy village, an hour and a half away from Phnom Penh, is run by an American humanitarian, Kit Carson and his Cambodian wife, Ream Carson: two of the most giving and loving people I've ever met. They built the orphanage from the ground up with sheer drive and private donations. They secure shelter, healthy food, clean water, clothing and care for approximately 35 local orphans and are currently raising funds to build a much-needed school, which will provide free, quality and uncorrupt education for the hundreds of children in the area, giving them a much greater chance to survive and to make a better future for themselves in a country with limited resources and modest hope. The donations will go towards everything in the building process—from the structures themselves to staff wages and supplies.
