In 1903 Corvallis Oregon, fanatic self proclaimed prophet Edmund Creffield gathered a flock of dedicated followers. Mostly women, the flock devoted themselves to his teachings of following the bible in it's entirety, destroying material possessions, and shunning all non believers no matter how close. As a result. families were torn apart, angry husbands sought revenge, rumors of nudity and sex orgies surfaced, and things spiraled out of control. In 1906 the Brides of Christ cult met their dramatic and tragic demise. Story of Hurt is inspired by these true events.

It's been a long and extremely difficult journey on this, my first feature film. Things are finally winding down, however with major editing complete. The film is now in the hands of the soundtrack mixer and composers. I have always believed that sound and music will play a huge part in this film and I'm happy to say that my audio "super-team" is giving me great confidence that they will greatly enhance my vision. They are putting a tremendous amount of work in and I now wish to compensate them for it. The soundtrack is being composed and recorded by Joe Haege (31 knots, Tu Fawning, Menomena), and John Askew (Tracker, Scenic Burrows recording and mixing studio). The sound mix is being done by Jason Edwards (Newkrackle audiofx). Joe also stars as the preacher/ cult leader in the film.

I am setting a goal to raise $5200 in a month's time. This amount is the very minimum that I owe the sound team for their fine studio work.

The film is still on track to premiere in the next few months! We should also be on track to submit to Sundance, the first of many upcoming festival submissions.

I'd like to thank everyone again that made that campaign a success. As the film was shot entirely on Super 16 film, I could not have finished without your financial help. It was only through that that I was able to get all of my footage digitized and back for editing. Your support and encouragement through this ordeal have been wonderful and greatly appreciated.

The goal of this particular campaign is to help get to a place where I no longer owe people money for services and can start focusing on chipping away at the massive debt only. There are, however, a number of costs not included here, so anything above the set amount will go towards that end. Other costs include picture finishing, print to tape, festival submissions, promotion, and more. Additionally, there are certain key people involved in the film who's contributions have been above and beyond the call of duty but who have denied monetary compensation. I would love to be able to repay them for their kindness. Also, having to give up my apartment and couch surf for the last 3 months due to the overwhelming debt payments, I would like to get to a place where I can once again have my own space without having to rely on the kindness of friends and family.
