We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Poster-sized, art quality maps for tabletop miniature and role-playing games. Laminated to survive brutal usage.

Miniature and role-playing games since their inception used maps to add concrete certainty to an often subjective experience. Sadly, these maps are often hand-drawn by the artistically challenged game master or poorly drawn  afterthoughts in commercial game products.  We launched this project because we want to create and publish large, beautifully drawn maps that enhance your tabletop gaming experience.

Many companies make battle maps. How are yours different?

We see several key areas  for improvement in current retail game maps.  First, we  believe that maps are art and should be both beautiful and functional. We are tired of battle maps with “three bushes, a rock and a road.”  So we recruited professional artist Jared Blando to do the art. Jared has a great portfolio of game maps that are truly excellent.  Here are some samples of his previous work.

Check out Jared’s full portfolio at http://theredepic.com

In addition to poor quality art, we hate folded maps. Yes, giant maps folded into little squares are easy to put into wholesale distribution and retail stores, but they are a major annoyance on the game table. They are never truly flat and the creases fail after repeated folds. We will ship every map rolled  without a crease in it!

We also want to reduce the cost of each map.  Every game master’s closet should overflow with  maps to meet every occasion without going bankrupt.  Including domestic shipping, we can print  can and deliver all four maps to you for $40.00.

Finally, we want big maps that are large and easy to play on. Our plan is for 24x30 inch (61x76.2 cm)maps. Poster sized!

Oh, and of course all the maps are in full color!

What Are The Maps Made Of?

We are using high-quality poster paper with a .5 millimeter lamination on both sides. Whether you use dry erase or wet erase markers, these maps can take it. Our maps are also "spilled cola" resistant!

How many different maps are you printing?

Our initial goal is four different maps

What are the maps going to look like?

Excellent question. Here are the descriptions for each of the maps we will submit to the artist and let his imagination run wild!

 “Monk’s Labyrinth”

Walking a labyrinth is said to bring peace and self-awareness, so the monks built their library and gardens to test  this theory every day. That was long ago and now the library wall has fallen, bridging the library labyrinth with a massive hedge maze. It is said that those enter the library labyrinth seeking wisdom find it...in the afterlife.

 “Sargasso Necropolis”

The ancients revered their dead and built a magnificent city of temples and mausoleums to honor and contain their unquiet ancestors near an ancient sea.  Centuries pass and the necropolis lies abandoned. A patient seas’ gentle waves and tidal movement gnaw at the necropolis, flooding and draining the city of the dead daily.  A foul green vine and seaweed choke the city, slowly attacking its marble walls and occasionally breaching a mausoleum. Dead sea life fill its once beautiful  boulevards.  The city's edge, once a verdant park is now a detritus choked beach, littered with bones, headstones and marble columns.

 “City in the Heavens”

An ancient civilization conquered the secret of flight and raised their city to the heavens.  Initially the city existed on a single piece of floating earth, but wealthy groups floated small islands and tethered the to the main city with flexible bridges.  Others tethered to the new islands, eventually creating a chaotic sea of floating islands. Time passed and a foul plague depopulated the city, leaving only a haunted, floating ruin the sky, reachable by those with powerful magics.

 “Fort at the World Tree”

Ages ago the massive World Trees that stretched miles into the sky were revered by the Old Ones, but then the Old Ones fell and the World Trees fell with them. One such tree fell across a deep  canyon creating a unique and valuable crossing point between two lands. Later men carved a bridge into the fallen tree and then built a wooden fortress on top of the huge stump to defend the tree bridge.

Where are you printing the maps?

All art, printing and laminating takes place in the USA.

Why are you doing this?

Because neither of us can draw anything other than stick figures and squares and the current retail map options do not meet our needs, so we decided to do something about it.

Who Are You Guys?

Stuart Greenwell and Trent Colwell and we are gamers. Oh, we have real jobs of course (IT and Finance) but those just pay for our gaming obsession.
