EMMI and EcoSono

Update #7 · Dec 23, 2010 · comment

EMMI's piece Drum Circle will be featured on the upcoming EcoSono DVD release Agents against agency. Drum Circle marries natural and human-crafted beauty in an integrated scene/performance/ritual that invites the listener-viewer to meditate on notions of nature, art, technology, and their inter-relationships. MADI and CADI perform among the trees and leaves of Virginia's early spring, interacting sonically and visually with this environment. EMMI is excited to offer one of three copies of Agents against agency, signed by EMMI co-founders Troy, Scott, and Steve (plus all the $75 pledge level incentives), as a limited edition reward for your pledge of just $82.

Agents against agency explores the power of emergent systems and human group improvisation. Each piece on this DVD de-centers human individualist expression -- i.e. "agency" -- in an interesting way. The collection opens artistic perception to phenomena of the emergence and improvisation, exposing us to dynamic and spontaneous forms of beauty, in dialog with nature. In addition to EMMI's work, Agents against agency contains pieces by 12 Dog Cycle + Rosalind Hall, Yuri Spitsyn, Emergence Collective / Interactive Media Research Group (IMRG), Christopher Burns and David Dinnell, Pinko Communoids, Ted Coffey, Mobile Interactive Computer Ensemble (MICE), and Matthew Burtner. For a complete listing and description of all pieces, visit: http://www.ecosono.com/EcoSono_agents.html

EcoSono challenges social assumptions about music by encouraging sonic nonconformity. The organization and its affiliates embrace a creative philosophy of human expression in symbiosis with the spaces that surround us -- imaginative multimedia sound art for a sustainable future.
