This is what I do when I'm not working on "Clawdette":

FIRST CONFIRMED FESTIVAL SCREENING FOR "JESUS AWAKENS"

I am pleased to announce our movie "Jesus Awakens the Little Girl" will be screened this summer at the 2010 Action On Film International Film Festival (http://www.aoffest.com/) July 23-30, 2010 right here in Pasadena. I don't have an actual screening date or time yet but as soon as they give me that info I will pass it along to you.

Please plan on attending in July -- it's a really fun movie! And if you were in it or worked on it, I would love it if you could come to the AOF screening because they have question-and-answer sessions afterward and it could be a great chance to connect with other filmmakers (future work!)

The movie is appropriate for all ages, including children down to age six, I would say, so please bring young ones!

At the suggestion of a good friend (I'm ashamed that I didn't think of doing this myself in the first place) I will donate 10% of all funding I receive for this project through Kickstarter to the Virginia Avenue Project in Santa Monica, California.

I'm going to explore new ways to get the word out about this project. I suppose if you've read the book online you've probably gotten the idea that it's about being who you are and doing what you love no matter what the world thinks. I've found that difficult to do in my own life at times. But I've also felt incredible satisfaction upon completing tasks whether or not they had any actual deadlines associated with them. For example, making the video for this project was a medium-sized challenge for me and I was very proud of myself once I'd finished it.

I thought maybe I should have smiled more in the video, though... What do you think?

Emmett - Nah - You were "at home in your living room," relaxed and sincere. That's all that matters! Carol

A good friend suggested gophers as a meal for Clawdette instead of Mr. Mouse, or maybe just tuna.

Please note that I absolutely will not make the obvious joke about Clawdette "going for" a gopher. Do you admire my restraint?

Yay! My first backer! A dear cousin of mine just pledged $50 for this project -- thank you so much! I'm not sure whether she wishes to remain anonymous or not so we'll just leave it at that. I really appreciate it! And I'll stop using exclamation points so much! Er, so much.

Hi Emmett, I really enjoyed watching your pitch and here's a toast to this project! Your many talents reach far and wide - thank you so much for sharing them with everyone. (I love using exclamation marks, especially when it concerns you!!

A dear friend just pointed out that I could get into some difficulty if I include a picture of Clawdette being served Mr. M. Mouse on a platter so we may need to alter that image slightly. Please send post your suggestions for an alternate meal for Clawdette below. Thanks!

I just finished prepping an e-mail to send to friends and colleagues asking for their support of this project. It's a very hard thing for me to do particularly in these trying times. It seems like most folks would rather see their resources go to essentials than to books for kids (which I understand perfectly). But I also know that nothing will happen if I do nothing, so here goes!

Good afternoon! This is the very first entry in the blog. I am entering and uploading all the information about the "Clawdette" project to Kickstarter today. I recorded the intro video about a week ago when I was visiting a friend in San Diego. There was actually a pretty terrific storm going on outside the window as I was shooting -- can you hear it in the video? I spent much of the last few days editing and adding graphics to the video. I hope it's short enough. I often put too many details in when I make a speech. Anyway, thanks for reading this!
