About this project

Welcome, and thank you so much for visiting my site!

I'm excited to announce the launch of my newest project: "Ends of the Earth."

Like my last album "Valparaiso," this recording draws from my 15 year love affair with South American and North American traditional music. "Ends of the Earth" expands my style--with tunes from West Virginia, Venezuela and Peru--and also deepens my connections to Chile, with tributes to my dearest teachers and their music.

This will also be my first recording with my band: José "Layo" Puentes, Lucas Savage and Daniel Marcus (videos at www.emilypinkerton.com/video.html). Starting this spring, we'll be making live and multi-tracked recordings in the Sanctuary of First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, using this beautiful space to color our sound.

Equipment upgrades, licensing fees, mastering, design, printing and most importantly, paying the amazing musicians I work with, will total $7500, and through this Kickstarter campaign, I hope to raise $3000 to complete the budget. Every contribution receives a gift. Whether you choose an album download for $10 or a house concert for $300, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support which will bring our musical vision to life!!

(For folks outside of Pittsburgh, you can trade the lesson or the ticket for an extra download card).

Haunting vocals, old-time banjo, and Andean guitar are the backbone of Emily Pinkerton’s alt-country fusion. Hailed as “affecting and poignant — a different kind of high lonesome” by Sing Out!, she weaves together North and South American folk song in a unique and evocative transcontinental style.
