She's awesome - and she's good at math. And maybe someday we can send her to college with the $$ we make from the bookstore/cafe - how cool would that be?
Thanks for all of your support! We're getting there, slowly but surely! Spread the word, tell friends that they can help some wonderful kids.
Update #3: Business Plan!
Hi All!
I am starting to write the business plan for the shop and I wanted to give you a sample of the cafe section:
Our café will feature tea and coffee from around the world, and a short menu featuring organic and vegetarian products. The café will be self-service. The menu will be seasonal and feature some international dishes, but mostly will have healthy, simple dishes. A soups and salads section will feature 3-4 soups or salads, a mains section will feature 4-5 sandwiches and entrees and a desert section will feature 2-3 seasonal deserts. The menu will change four times throughout the year. We will also feature hand squeezed juices and will not carry items in glass or plastic bottles. The décor of the café will feature a mix of donated plates, utensils, furniture and coffee/tea cups. We want people to realize that the shop has been created at minimal cost, but have it look cozy and welcoming.
Suggestions? I'm looking for an organic tea supplier, so let me know if you have any favorites.

Update #2: Update on our Ghana Project
Hi Everyone!! I'm so happy to see we have so many backers already and that everyone loves the idea of plastic bag totes =) it's fun, so let me know if you want the pattern.
I talked to our project manager in Ghana today and he said everything is going so perfectly. When he says that he means it. The school construction is continuing as planned.
I am now scoping out shop space in Somerville, Allston, Brookline and Cambridge. Any suggestions?
