Illuma-Keep, the motion-activated eyeglass case, keeps your valuables safe and secure all night and includes the great benefit of an automatically-opening lid and lights with a simple wave of the hand.

Most eyeglasses wearers will tell you that glasses have become more expensive every year as new technology is developed for making lenses better, with features such as thinner material, transitions, automatic tint, etc. For the visually impaired, opening the lid and lighting up the interior with a wave of the hand is a great benefit since they are not able to clearly see where their glasses are so they can pick them up.

Illuma-Keep Features

A soft felt lining of the interior compartment. This ensures your glasses or other valuables will not get scratched.
Energy efficient LED lights rated to last over 10,000 hours. It will be a long time before any lights burn out since they are only on when the case is open - only about 11 seconds each time, and only opening a few times daily.
Convenient power choices, using either batteries or wall adapter. Each Illuma-Keep comes with an adapter for wall power (suitable for use in North America), but it also has a battery compartment, using four AA batteries.
Thumb tab at the front of the lid. This will allow you to manually open the lid to retrieve your glasses if the power goes out or batteries are drained.
On/Off switch. This will allow the case to be turned off even when batteries are installed for ease in carrying it from one room to another (or packing it for travel). You wouldn't want it to trigger and attempt to open while in your luggage ;-).

Illuma-Keep Safety

All the internal circuitry is low voltage and not regarded as a hazard. By using an adapter that is UL listed, we have the assurance of safety in the interface with house power.
The motion sensor is designed to sense the presence of an obstruction at the front of the case, where your hand would be to place your glasses in the case. When it senses the obstruction, the lid remains open and cycles for an additional 8 seconds before attempting to close again. This is a video of the feature:

Illuma-Keep Rewards

We have offered Illuma-Keep cases as the reward for our project. If you want to help the project succeed but you don't have a need for Illuma-Keep for your own use, we will be pleased to coordinate the donation of any cases you would otherwise receive for your pledge. We will donate those cases in your name to local assisted-living facilities for use by their low-income residents who can then experience the benefits Illuma-Keep offers even though they cannot afford to purchase one.

Conclusion

Illuma-Keep, the motion-activated eyeglass case, is the first product of what we hope will be a steady stream of products our company plans to develop. Illuma-Keep provides a substantial life-improving benefit to anyone suffering from low vision. We have seen significant interest in Illuma-Keep from most who have seen a demo of the prototype. Corporate buyers from the "optical goods" chain stores want to see sales history before they will order. Banks also want to see sales history and profitable operation before they will lend. Your pledges will provide documentation that Illuma-Keep will sell. Upon reaching our pledge goal, we will be able to pay the factory for tooling and the minimum required for the first production run. After filling all the rewards associated with your pledges, there will be enough left over from the minimum order that we can provide samples to buyers who have requested them as we continue our marketing.
