About this project
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, I have spent the last four years teaching myself piano and writing, singing and performing (on keyboard solo or with a band) my own original songs at bars and clubs in New York City. Then I met Dan, Mike, and Rabbi, my soul mates and some of the most incredible musicians I've ever played with. We're finally ready to record our first album, and even though we're planning to use the most cost-effective methods possible, we need some funds to help pay for studio time, mixing, mastering, replication and promotion. The record will be a collection of original soul/pop tunes entitled ELIZABETH REX.
Even if you can only donate $10, every contribution helps! If we don't meet our goal by January 15th, nobody's credit cards will get charged, so your support is much appreciated and completely vital to this project! The tunes are ready to go, the rest is up to you!
Where's the money going?
First off, we really want you to know how much we appreciate every dollar someone decides to donate to help make this project a reality. That's why we are offering REWARDS, so that you're not only helping this album get made but have something cool to show for it! Now here's how our expenses will break down for the project...
$2500 studio time (5 days)
$2500 production staff (producer, engineer, 2nd/asst engineer)
$500 additional instrumentalists (strings, horns)
$1500 mixing
$1000 miscellaneous (misc travel, equipment & accessories)
$1000 mastering
$1000 design, printing, and replication (1,000 CDs)
This is bare bones production. Any additional money raised will go towards enhancing the quality of the production, which makes for an even better sounding album!
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS - ALL OR NOTHING
We have set a goal to raise $10,000 by 9:00 PM (PST) January 15, 2012. If we do not reach our goal by this date, your cards will not be charged and we will receive nothing.

Rabbi and the Popes is an ongoing musical experiment that ties in elements of rock, funk, jam band, soul, and more, with the united goal of getting our bodies moving. And hopefully yours too.
Currently Rabbi and his minions are a four-piece: the drums are explored by Rabbi (full disclosure - he's not really a rabbi. But he is a teacher to all. His real name: Mike Witman). Dan Marks plays a positively biting lead guitar. Jen Ahlstrom sings vocals that are so gentle, then suddenly they rip your head right off without apology. Plus she straight lays it down on keys. Finally, the addictive bass in your face is provided by Mike Drucker. Please enjoy irresponsibly.
