Got mine today, THANKS! Nifty little gadget for sure, charging it now.....

So I was hoping to use this devise in a way that would allow me to do a 5 exposure HDR on my Canon 5D at say 1 stop apart. Will this be possible in Timelapse mode somehow? Would I just do a manual exposure say 5 stops below and set each exposure at one stop each?

      Can't wait for the manual!

@Kishor Yup, it is indeed good news - I'm still just keeping my fingers crossed that the Pebble SDK allows (easy) access to the sort of functionality required to talk to arbitrary BT gadgets- and, of course, we need something in the TL+ that'll Do The Right Thing when it receives a command, but I believe that is already in the works for the TL+ firmware.

While eagerly awaiting the arrival of my unit and reading the latest update, I got to thinking. The Timelapse+ has a light sensor in it, which it will measure the amount of ambient light. If it's able to detect light changes, then it should be able to detect a sudden shift in light change. A bit of code inserted to detect this sudden light change it could trigger the camera. That sudden change of light could be lightning, you could have a cheap lightning trigger. Million dollar idea?

@Jairo Marin re Canon Power Shot SX30 IS

I don't know if this would help (how much of a techie you are...) but there is a description of SX30 support from CHDK http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX30 - I haven't checked the specs of the SX30, but using CHDK on my G9 it is possible to trigger the camera by applying voltage to the USB (basically, I just use a switch and three AAA batteries) which just simulates plugging the camera into a PC.

I was wondering myself if the Timelapse+ outputs could be used for this (directly, applying V to the line or indirectly via a simple adapter) so that the Timelapse+ could control that as well as the DSLR via the more conventional route.

I was thinking along similar same lines - could the Pebble talk directly to the Timelapse+ (assuming that the Pebble got BT 4 and I could up my pledge for a BT Timelapse+). Shall have to add learning more about BT to my reading list...

I pledged Pebble e paper Watch in the KS. Many backers have requested to include BT4.0. I hope they are digging out this possibility. If they do, any possibility for the APP for Timelapse+ with BT version. If we could, than our camera can be handle from the wrist watch!!

@Christopher -- yes, there are places to get the cables -- I'll be posting them on http://www.timelapseplus.com once I have the new site up.
@Anthony -- just fill out the survey according to what you want, and I'll have a way soon to modify your order and payment amount (also to be part of the new wesbsite).

@Seshan -- yeah, that's fine -- either way would work in that case. Thanks!
@Jairo -- I'm afraid that camera doesn't support any way to control the shutter (it doesn't support remote shutter releases or IR), however, I hope to have the Timelapse+ support it via USB in the near future (although I'm not yet certain even that would work). Let me know if you'd like to keep the order and hold or for USB or cancel. Thanks!

@sgllama - I understand that the Timelapse+ will have a USB host port, through which the picture could be fetched from the camera.
@Simon Boucher - That same USB host port could also connect via a hub to an off-the-shelf modem.
It's just a Simple Matter Of Programming.

    33. Missing_thumb
      Simon Boucher on March 13

Hey Elijah an awesome feature for Timelapse+ would be a 3G or 4G modem... so the device could upload photos to a FTP server as the camera takes them. The device will be awesome as is, but this feature would be cool in a future version.

    34. Becoming200s.thumb
      Mark Keller on March 10

A little feature change in the firmware that I think could be useful would be the ability to set a beginning and ending interval that the Timelapse+ would smoothly change through throughout the duration. That way one could have the resulting time-lapse speedup or slowdown without having to try and do it in post.

    35. Missing_thumb
      Andi Watson on March 9

@Peter - I'm not sure how the whole EU Law thing has become the scapegoat for this. There is no law involved, just different import duties for different items. It is true that enabling more than 29m59s of recording would mean that the cameras would attract more import duty but only in the EU not anywhere else in the world and to be honest everyone I know would rather pay £200 more on an already expensive camera to have this. I think it has more to do with Canon not wanting to cannibalise sales of their video cameras. Canon make astronomy versions of some of their cameras which would have a far smaller target userbase than a video version of the 5dmk3 which would only require different firmware. Anyway... I do hope that there might be some way Timelapse+ could be made to circumvent this. It would be an amazingly cool feature.

    36. N728076073_450405_9651.thumb
      Elijah Parker on March 9

@Peter & @Andy - Very interesting about the time limit - that seems so silly! Well, good news on that -- I think the video can be started and stopped by IR -- at least with my 7D the Timelapse+ IR can start and stop video, so there's a good chance it will work with the 5DmkIII (which does support IR).

    37. Missing_thumb
      Peter Brophy on March 9

@Elijah - 48 hrs is plenty good enough for my use. The sort of tweaks to improve it I would say can come post-release.

@Andi - fyi, the 29m59s limitation is dictated by EU tax law...of all things. Recording from 30m onwards puts a camera into a different taxing category that makes them more expensive - so thats the workaround. On Canon EOS the shutter-release doesn't trigger video recording so I don't think it will be functional on launch....but I'm hoping to have camera control later on via USB perhaps. :)

      Hi Elijah,
Very excited about getting my units but I wondered something. I am lucky enough to be getting a 5dMk3 when they are released and like the mk2 it seems to have the fixed video recording limit of 29m59s. In the past with my mk2 I had to manually stop and immediately restart recording before the limit was reached. Is there a way the Timelapse+ could automatically re-trigger the camera to keep filming? I record 2 hour + concerts and to be able to automate this would be an incredible feature for me. Thanks for such an amazing device!

    39. N728076073_450405_9651.thumb
      Elijah Parker on March 9

@Peter - I haven't yet been able to put more into the firmware, so it's hard to say yet. As is, the previous prototype lasts about 48 hours running continuously, and about 4 days on standby (as you can see, standby has a problem). The design I'm working on right now should be able to shut down much more deeply to extend the standby time. I'm pretty happy with 48+ hours continuous usage, but I would like to double that. I think that will be extended as well since I lowered the clock speed from 16MHz to 8MHz (and the firmware has yet to be optimized). Also, it can be charged while in use.

    40. N728076073_450405_9651.thumb
      Elijah Parker on March 9

@Douglas - Unfortunately, I don't have a way to measure the weight right now, but if I had to guess I would say maybe 4oz or less. I'll have to weigh it officially once I've got it in the final case and everything so I can add that to the specs.

    41. N728076073_450405_9651.thumb
      Elijah Parker on March 9

So about the surveys -- I've only sent it to the prototype backers so far, since I realized kickstarter only lets you send a survey once. They recommend waiting so people addresses don't change, but I will still need to preorder the cables, so I'll send it anyway (I've just been delaying as I put all my efforts into finalizing the design). So don't worry -- it hasn't been sent yet! Thanks!
