Photo-main

Short comedy series about three video game characters living together in a pixelated world. M for Mature humor about all things gaming.

UPDATE 12/19/12: Holy Wow! We've made it to just $1 shy of double our original goal of $900! I'm having trouble expressing my thanks to everyone, but I'm sure I'll figure out a way some how! We've got just about 24 hours left, project wraps up at 1 am Wednesday morning, (poor planning on my hard maybe) I'll probably be up watching for the final count down. As I've mentioned a few times already but still done the less, we're really grateful for everything everyone has given and done, the funds raised here will all be going into making this project the greatest series we've ever made. Believe me, you will be seeing a lot more of these guys in the new year! ;)

If we can hit $2,000 we will make 13 episodes (a short but full season) along with plenty of teasers, fan thank yous, PSA, and all sorts of awesome stuff.

The What:

Super Apartment Bros is set to be an animated comedy series about three video game characters that live together in a pixelated world. The main cast is made up of Griffin, the troubled space marine, Igam, the sarcastic, self-serving mage and Sophie the cat-girl, ninja princess. Their landlord is old man Mario and he accepts gold rings, space credits and rupees for the rent. Humor will over all aspects of video game and gaming culture and will be in the T for Teen to M for Mature range.

The Goal:

-Raise funds to cover the production cost for at least 5 episodes. Pledges will help pay the artists, promote the series, pay for cool rewards, get the series website up and running, allow the team to pull awesome work in record time over their break, and get the series out to viewers by the end of January 2012.

From Eric

Hmm how to tell you about Super Apartment Bros. Hopefully the video covers most of it but here goes. It's a little idea of a project that has been growing exponentially over the past 6 months. I've always enjoyed making videos, nothing makes me happier than reading people's comments and knowing that I made them laugh.

I've made a lot of videos, most of which are on youtube now, (you can see my channel: http://youtube.com/user/toadking07) It's mostly old machinima stuff, (mostly comedies made in the Halo games), though I've branched out and experimented with other videos as well. I've had a good run with my videos, some failures, but a lot of successes, and I've learned something every step of the way.

I've had to focus on my college classes these last few years, so I've had less time to work on videos. While I haven't actually been recording and producing as many videos, ideas have been going through my head the whole time. I've tried to figure out how best to make a new series, what should go into it, how it should be formatted. This lead to the forging of Super Apartment Bros.

I have a team of pixel artists, I have scripts, I'm gathering voice actors, this project is in motion and set to be release online in January 2012. What I don't have right now is funds. I need your help to make this video series best it can be.

This is an ambitious project, but I have not doubt that we can pull it off. You don't know the characters yet, you've just been introduced, but I'm sure you will love them once you get to see them in action. We want to make this series so good you actually laugh out loud, not just smile and type lol politely.

Remaining Facts:

Any and all mailing information, including address, names, reward choice, etc. will be collected after the project funding ends.

In order to receive any funds we must reach our goal by our deadline or else Kickstarter refunds it all and we have to start over. We can raise more but right now we're just focusing on getting to $900. But can we go higher? I'd like to think so.

International backers please add at least $5 to your pledges to cover the cost of shipping from the United States to your country. This would be greatly appreciated and we'll be sure to add a little extra love and bonus stuff to your reward if you do, thanks.

FAQ

  • Yes. All the posters, pins and pixel selves went out in March 2012. A little later than Feb and we didn't do a run of stickers but we hope you liked everything anyways. If you haven't received any or part of your reward please contact Eric as there are extras ad we want everyone to get their reward for helping the project!

  • Of the $900 that we are trying to raise, kickstarter.com and amazon.com take out about 5% each. That's $90 total right there just for having the kickstarter project here.

About 1/4 of the total was figured to go towards the rewards we have for the pledge levels, so $225 goes right back you you guys in the form of stickers, pins, posters and art work.

We bought the domain name superapartmentbros.com which we'll update everyone about more when the real site goes up later this winter. We had to buy the site name, pay for hosting, and set up email and privacy settings, which together added up to be about $85.

After the rewards, fees and web site cost, we're left with about $500 to pay voice actors and our team for their work.

Besides myself and Norm there are about 12 other members who are working hard and creating amazing work for Super Apartment Bros. They're making original sound scores and effects, writing scripts, as well as creating the pixel art you've seen, and then of course there's the animators and editors that will really bring the work to live in the final videos. We'd like to be able to compensate everyone for their hard work with the remaining money at a fair commission rate. With your help none of these college students have to work for free and will even be able to afford more packs of romen!

  • Super Apartment Bros is a video series about video game characters living in a pixelated world of video games. The characters are parodies of famous archetypes and there will be several famous characters that show up for an episode or two.

So not a game, but a video about games.

  • $900 is the goal of this kickstarter project but that is in no way the limit for what we can raise. The money raised here will allow us to pay our pixel artists, script writers, animators and sound designers properly and gives us the resources to work with more people. The more funds we have to work with the more we can do and the farther we can take it. Right now we've just got 5 episodes planned out but if we have the money we'd love to get more episodes done on top of those currently being worked on.

If we don't reach our goal of $900, we get nothing, not even the funds pledged so far, which means we'll have to pay for everything out of pocket. Not easy when attending school full time and unemployed. We'd have to cut back our plans, but we'd pull 5 episodes together as a pilot season.

If we reach our goal of $900 we'll be able to pay all of our artists properly for their hard work and be able to breathe easier knowing that people believe in our project. We'll get the website up and running, along with the 5 episodes and several trailers, teasers and shorts. Maybe more episodes will be worked on if the series gets a following.

If we break $900 and reach a new goal of $1,500, we'll be able to pay all of our artists to go above and beyond their contracts to create some really neat extras for the series that will make it shine even brighter when it's release in January. We're looking at at least 8 full episodes, a website, trailers, teasers and seeing where the series goes.

If we break that goal and then shoot up and break $2,000, well, Norman and I will be happy beyond measure. With funds like that we would easily be able to put together nearly a short season of episodes with trailers and teasers, Q&As with the characters, PSA like RedvsBlue, and all sorts of fun stuff. Just try us. ;)

  • No. Episodes are going to go up on youtube and that is where they will probably stay. No DVDs, no feature film releases, just good old viral internet showings.
