CREATURES OF THE NIGHT

Hi People!
At this very moment I'm literally dripping with sweat - so, so, so hot out here! I've had a couple days of extremely light winds, where the heat just seems to hang like a thick blanket. There's been many a salt-water bath to cool down and many a glass of fresh squeezed limeade to keep the hydration up. I've been waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning so as to have more productive hours in the day - as once it hits 930 or 10AM the heat produces such lethargy it's hard to even muster the energy up to complain about it. ah well, the GRIB files show a bit more breeze on its way so i suppose all i can do is sit tight.
In other news, I had my first intruder the other night. I'd waken at 3 AM for my above described jump start on the day and had decided to go for a quick pee as an enormously plump seabird came crashing through the open porthole where it grazed the top of my head before smashing into the door on the adjacent wall. it was utterly terrifying - it was a pitch black night outside, my eyes were still sticky with sleep and here i was stuck in a 3 X 3 ft room with this sharp-beaked monster! the thing was out of its ever loving mind! i managed to escape unscathed but then the little dummy couldnt seem to figure out how to get back out the window. in all honesty, i couldnt quite sort out how he'd even made it through in the first place - his wing span much large than the diameter of the opening. it was seriously like someone had shot him out of a cannon and straight through the window he entered with such velocity!
anyways, it was really quite the ordeal as by the time the sun came up a large wall of rain had arrived that would hang around for most of the day - thus making it impossible to open up the hatch and shoo the little bastard out. instead, i was forced on more than one occasion to relocate myself outside in the pouring rain for subsequent restroom needs rather than risking confrontation with my feathered little non-friend. a bit of excitement i suppose - but quite happy to have him gone and things back to normal...
in other semi-scary news - we're down to less than 10 days to go on this kickstarter project. just as a reminder - it's an all or nothing platform, if the goal isn't met none of the pledge become real money - as of writing we are only 30% funded, still got quite a ways to go. if you a spare moment these next few days please continue to show your support by helping pass the link around, getting the word out on the project and its upcoming deadline. I cannot do this without you guys! thank you, thank you to everyone who's chipped in, and helped this thing along - you guys are really incredible . . .
okay, back to it out here,
emily
