We're Mike & Vicky, a husband and wife art duo - together we illustrate, tell stories & teach.

Our writer is Vicky's Brother Jonathan, he is a graduate of Sarah Lawrance College and has done many comic and children's book projects. 

Our project is an illustrated storybook about two kids inheriting an odd old house with generations of accumulated wonder - A Cabinet of Curiosities.

Our new goal is $35,000. We want to give something special back to our backers and want to make a New Prequel book for all our backers that have contributed more than $50.

We have some great back stories we want to explore about the eccentric relatives touched upon in Curiosities. We just need the excuse to be able to tackle that project. Again it would be a mix of writing, comics and storybook and the perfect companion piece to our larger book. So how do we get there? If each of you can get someone - a friend, a neighbor, a coworker, your local comic shop, or even your library, to get a book then we'll achieve this goal no problem, and you'll get yourself an addition book full of all new stories.

This thing is gonna be fantastic, but it can't exist without YOU.

Curious? Read On!

The Cabinet of Curiosities is our fully illustrated 88-page hardcover storybook. It tells the story of a pair of kids who inherit a spooky old house from a long lost uncle. The house is full to bursting with mysterious doo-dads and trinkets. Each room being a strange, personally-curated monument to a crazy ancestor. A Cabinet of Curiosities!

The inspiration for this project came about after we went hunting for household decorations at flea markets and the like. Once you see enough weird little objects, you inevitably start to wonder what on earth could have led to their creation, what kinds of stories do these little things had to tell?

Eventually we came upon the idea of a pair of siblings exploring their family history through the weird and fascinating remnants of long-gone relatives. Pirate Queens, Wizards, Overly skilled Lion Tamers, and at least one eccentric taxidermist.

Who are we?
We’re married and we both attended Art Center College of Design and work as Visual Development Artists in Feature Animation. We’ve contributed to a lot of your favorite animated movies of the last few years - Tangled, How to Train your Dragon, & Kung Fu Panda 2. And now we'd like to try and share something fun and personal with this project.

Jonathan is a writer who is currently on a cross country trip gathering inspiration for his next project. He's worked on many of his own personal comic book projects as well as YA novels. 

The Book
We’re aiming for 88 full color pages chock full of poems and stories, and even a few comic bits. The book’s dimensions will be 12 inches tall by 9 inches wide. We want this to be a beautiful cloth bound book, with bright offset printing and high quality paper. We're hoping to make this book feel like a great old heirloom tome, the kind of book you'd find on a shelf in the Cabinet of Curiosities.

So about the money
Printing a book is no easy feat, but we don't want to compromise any little details on our passion project. This book is the most ambitious project either of us have ever attempted and we'll need your support to help with the printing costs. We believe in this thing, and we really want to share it with you guys. We've been saving for a while but what we've got will only cover part of the printing costs. If we can raise 4000 dollars then we'll be in business. And that's where you guys come in.

So to simplify the process for both you and us, we have created this nifty chart that allows you to determine how much to add to your pledge if you want to include an item from another tier. Don't forget to send us a message to note the change in your order & also note the change in the survey we send out at the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
