I've played this version as well! It's fun to mix it up -- to see not only how much it would take for someone to do a dare, but also how *little*. It's surprising what people will do for not so much money. And by "surprising" I mean "deeply troubling."
I was playing a game like this with a group of friends in China. And I was saying how, if Bill Gates was actually there in person with the money and you knew for sure he'd give it to you people would be willing to 'eat shit' or whatever for way less. So we started playing the game for way less than a million dollars. It was crazy. one friend had this supernatural knack for it. He said he'd go to church naked (our church) with only two pineapples(as cover I guess), and stay the whole time, for something like 200 dollars "if it was cash on the table". Even though I had the money, I didn't take him up on it. Another good one for low stakes is would you pee yourself in public.
