A story of love, obsession and paint. This short film is a multi-layered canvas with a unique concept and cast.
The Perfect Color is a short film raising funds to shoot in Albany,
NY. I wrote the script a few years ago while living in Brooklyn. And now its time to make it a reality! The story is lots of fun and I have high hopes for the film on the festival circuit. The color based concept, unique characters and visual presentation will be un-ignorable.
I would be grateful for your
contribution. Every dollar raised will go to the basic needs of the
production (cast and crew, equipment rentals, locations,
post-production, etc). The script is 25 pages and has been scheduled for a 7 day shoot. We have a strong production team and a great cast! The film will also supply opportunities to my students (I'm a teacher) to get valuable set experience.

SYNOPSIS: Bill always wanted to be a cowboy just like Elvis. It's the reason he wears golden sunglasses and swaggers around in snakeskin boots. It's also the reason he had a wild west birthday party when he turned seven. His Cowgirl, whom he loved, wore a pink hat. She was perfect. Bill watched her die that day. The traumatizing event doomed him to a stunted future, barely existing as an oversexed man-boy that is never satisfied. Perfection doesn't ring twice. Having it and losing it has made Bill bitter, closed off and obsessed with finding it again.
Every decision Bill makes is founded within this emotional underdevelopment, including the all-important choice of paint color for his new apartment. He finds safety in the simplicity of white and has tried hundreds of shades like "Eggshell", "First Snow" and "Cotton Club". Similarly to his love life, Bill just can't find the perfect color. But things begin to change when Bill meets Jane. She's so much like the Cowgirl he lost. Her blonde hair shines and her boots click and clack as she walks. She's perfect.
Chance encounters with Jane over the next few days force Bill to
relive his past. The world seems to take on whatever color she happens to be
wearing when he sees her. The more Bill gets to
know her, the more he sees her imperfections. She's supporting a drug habit by
shacking up with Bill's closest thing to a friend, RASHID, a raunchy loud-mouth
with expensive tastes. This news brings Bill to the brink, the point of no return, where he must
decide whether to retreat and continue living in black-and-white nothingness or
accept Jane for who she is and take a chance on experiencing the beautifully
imperfect color of life.
