Update #8: Recording sessions a great success!
Greetings!
It has been a while since we updated you all--our generous donors--here on Kickstarter!
At the beginning of April we were in the studio to begin the process of producing our debut CD. In the course of three full days of more-or-less nonstop music making, we recorded 46 tunes! This is nearly the entire repertoire of songs that we have developed over the past four years of making music together.
We now have copies of the "session tapes," and each of us is busy listening and analyzing them and deciding on which tunes we want on the album, etc. We have a bit more recording to complete -- some separate vocal tracks, any re-takes or re-dos that we feel necessary -- and then we will be ready for the next big phases: Mixing and mastering and designing the album.
For now, have a look at these photos of UVB in the studio!
Thank you for your support!
Щиро дякуємо Вам!

Update #6: Photos from Last Friday's Vechirka!
Greetings!
Below is a link to Bob (Bohdan) Iwaskewycz's photos from our vechirka last Friday night, held in celebration of our successful CD fundraising efforts. There was a great turnout!
Vechirka at Kramarczuk's 1.27.2012
Have a look around Bob's Picasa page, if you'd like; he has a bunch of photos from various Ukrainian Village Band events, and his albums provide something of a snapshot of Ukrainian life in our Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
If you live in or are visiting the Twin Cities and have yet to do so, we hope you will come check us out at our monthly vechirka (party) at Kramarczuk's Bakery and Deli sometime soon. You can find info about dates and location on our website:
Again, thank you for your support!!! Щиро дякуємо Вам!

Update #5: From last Friday's Vechirka: Thank You!
Greetings!
So. . . we promised a video from our vechirka at Kramarczuk's this past Friday night; well, it turns out that there is no way to attach a photo or video to a Kickstarter page straight from a SmartPhone, as far as we now! The lesson learned: One sometimes still needs that even smarter computing device called a desktop or laptop!
So here you go; it's a short (but sweet?) thank you video captured with an iPhone.
It was a great turnout last Friday, even if we didn't have all our players present. Thanks to all of you in the Twin Cities (of Minneapolis and St. Paul) area who came out, and thank you ALL again for your support!
~Ukrainian Village Band, aka, the Seljuky
PS--One of our band member's father is always at our vechirky with camera in hand. Check out his photos from previous vechirky on his Picasa site (he's got a lot of stuff there, so just look for the albums that begin with "UVB" in the title):
Be sure to check back again later this week; he'll post his photos from this past Friday there soon!
Update #4: We did it, with more than a little help from our friends!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Щиро дякуємо Вам!
2) Celebrate with us tonight at Kramarcuk's!
If you are in the Minneapolis area, join us!
No cover charge, courtesy of Kramarczuk's and as a token of our appreciation!!!
7-9:30pm
3) NOTE about further donations and advance purchases:
Several people have inquired whether it will be possible still to make contributions and advance purchases.
Absolutely!
With such a successful conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign, we will no longer actively solicit contributions and advance purchases, but we certainly will accept them!
The recording process--from recording, to mixing and editing, to mastering, then to designing and finally manufacturing the CD--is an expensive one!
If anyone you know would like to send a contribution/advance purchase via post, please have them make out a check to Ukrainian Village Band and send to:

All further contributions received will benefit from the same rewards as listed here on our Kickstarter page, which will remain online for your reference:
Sincerely,
Ukrainian Village Band

PS--We'll send you a picture, maybe even a short video, from our vechirka at Kramarczuk's tonight!!! (Vechirka, by the way, is one of several Ukrainian words for a party!)

We are a group of musicians from a diverse range of backgrounds. Most of us have performed with the Ethnic Dance Theatre, a professional dance company dedicated to the preservation and presentation of folk music and dance as art. Most of us also grew up performing in the folk ensembles of our respective ethnic communities. Several of us are engaged in other musical and artistic projects. See the sampling of web links below to get a better idea!
