About this project
dreamSpeak Literary Magazine (dSLM) inspires, motivates, and uplifts young people by providing a platform for them to express themselves creatively. Created entirely for children, teens, and young adults, dSLM will rely on submissions from young writers, photographers, graphic artists, and poets. Categories for submission will include: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, comics, photography, interviews, paintings, digital art, and dreamSparks (writing prompts).
Writing is my passion. Two years ago, I self-published my first book, Weepin' Willa: A Collection of Short Stories. Having accomplished this life-long goal of mine, I wondered what would have happened had my passion been nurtured earlier in life. I wondered where I'd be right now if, as a youth, I had found a place where I could be my creative self and share my art with the world...a place like dreamSpeak Literary Magazine.
Please help me to foster the creative passion of our youth by making a donation to this project. With your help, dSLM will launch in April 2012 and print editions will be issued quarterly (in April, July, October, and December).
This is only the beginning!

I was raised in Indianola, Mississippi - the Delta. Born with a severe case of idiopathic scoliosis, I attribute my creativity and storywriting talent to stubbornness and a vivid imagination.
When I'm not working as an administrative professional in the corporate world, I am busy writing my 2nd book, honing my graphics design skills, and revealing way too much about myself and my life on my blog at www.cocoabrown.wordpress.com.
My mother once told me that writing was a hobby...not something that I could do to sustain myself in the world. I know she meant well, but I really wish someone had been there to encourage me to go for it! Now that I'm an adult, I want to be that "someone" for young creatives who may be searching for their place in the world.
