Dramatis Personae (DP) was created in 2008. DP aims to give voice to the diverse Chicago community by creating theater that challenges our audiences and inspires change. Drawing on a diverse family of artists and a wide spectrum of art forms, we identify cultural differences and find ways to relate. We create collaborative ensembles, foster original works, and seek to engage the community in promoting positive social change.

Artist Gumbo is a eclectic mix of comedians, sketch comedy, improv, musicians, hip hop artists, movement and dance performances, short scenes, devised performance and muralists. Combined together, Artist Gumbo creates a spectacular performance from local artists. They are produced throughout the year to create an outlet for artists to share their work and build community. 

DP is seeking support for these artist events. These events allow us to support and promote local artists while focusing on specific social issues. We are requesting funding for our upcoming Artist Gumbos being held on November 2012 and February 2013. Each new Gumbo event provides a platform for the theatre ensemble of Dramatis Personae to present new material. We believe in creating theater that inspires positive social change and gives our audiences and our artists opportunities to relate. Because of our interest in creating original work, we are creating new material that allow us to foster ensemble driven pieces based on our ensemble and our audiences personal stories.
