Dead Body Day
Hello everyone:
Dead Body Day went very well yesterday. I wanted to share some photos of the behind-the-scenes as well as thank a bunch of peeps, then give you a quick update on the next several days.
There were three makeup artists, including Priscilla who has been with us for several months now. It was Melanie and Rocket's first time on Z. and they did amazing work. All three of them made a great team and if the expansions get funded we will push ourselves to make some of the most grotesque and awesome horror effects ever seen. A few of the looks we did yesterday are easily the best Z. has had so far.
I also wanted to thank Mark W. and Maya Z., a couple of the backers who came by and let us turn them into maimed bodies. It was very nice meeting you two, and also Antonio J. who I met and played a few rounds of Z. with last week. It's always great meeting the Z. community in person, so please let me know if you've ever in the Bay Area.
I also need to thank the Hacker Dojo for hosting Dead Body Day and Brian K. for helping out so much and doing photos. I recorded a video walkthrough to give you an idea of what the Dojo is all about, so if you're interested expect that to be posted soon.
Lastly, thanks to the video crew from LA for coming up and recording what goes into a single Z. shoot and helping to clean up afterwards. More details on that (and the video itself) in a couple weeks. (I'm usually the one asking the questions whenever I interview game developers so I think I might have spazzed out a little during the Q&As. We'll see....)
Meanwhile, in Minnesota....
Yesterday also marked a first for me, as I directed two Z. photoshoots simultaneously. There was Dead Body Day in Northern California, and then another in Minnesota. You can see a little sneak peek of the crazy shit happening there above and below.
A big thank you to Meagan M. and Britty U. for putting that all together and for being a part of Z., and special thanks to Zombie Ammo for lending the studio space and weaponry.
This week
I'm going to be hopping between SF and LA for an Adobe creators conference over the next few days. It's kind of crappy timing but I felt this was an invaluable opportunity to get better acquainted with the tools used to make Z. what it is. As you know, I've been teaching myself Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects to pick up more of the slack on editing all of our hundreds of cards and video content, so sitting down with the people who make the actual software will go a really long way towards improving my capability to do cool shit. :)
That said, a few new post-effects peeps have been added to the Z. team to help with the final push for the Core Set and their work is really impressive. You'll be seeing plenty of it soon. I'm excited! I can't wait to see some of the finished pieces myself!!
So when to expect the physical edition Kickstarter? I'm aiming for May 10th. That may be a little too optimistic, but definitely no later than the 15th. We're on a tight schedule with no slowing down now. Stay tuned!

Artists needed + Dead Body Day!
Hello everyone:
Update #75! Thanks for coming along on this journey with me! You've all been awesome and we're nearing the finish line for the boxed version of Z.! Exciting things are also happening with the digital version, so while this project is always immensely challenging, it's also a great feeling to be steadily moving forward and hitting key milestones.
Two quick things today:
1. Post-FX artists wanted!
Z. has hundreds and hundreds of images that need to be edited before we send the final files off to the manufacturer.
We have a few artists working on them now, but I also wanted to seek out some additional peeps to join the team, temporarily or permanently. After all, after the Core Set is manufactured there's still hundreds of more cards that need to be done for the digital version and upcoming expansions, so there's plenty of work to go around.
If you or someone you know has mad Photoshop skills, please message me here on Kickstarter with a link to your portfolio.
2. Dead Body Day!
I recently noticed we were lacking in dead bodies for our Z. cards so May 3rd is officially Dead Body Day at the Hacker Dojo. We're taking volunteers who want to come in and get corpsified by our makeup artist. Should be fun and easy, so message me if you're interested.
