About this project
The idea to record this album came to me 5 years ago on a cross-country drive with my father. I decided then that this project would take place in Cape Breton featuring my musical cousins Johnny, Sandy and Jeff MacDonald. The production will also feature my wonderful and talented girlfriend Kaitlin MacDonald on piano, as well as a great friend of mine and virtuosic cellist Natalie Haas who will be delighting our ears with her grace and musical expertise. The completed record will be traditional alongside fresh and contemporary ideas, embracing sounds from ancient Scotland, Ireland and Cape Breton.
The majority of recording and post-production will be engineered by Allan Dewar at the Celtic Music Centre located in Judique, Nova Scotia. The Celtic Music Centre is a true indication of the desire and strong presence of traditional music in the world today.
I have chosen Dave MacIsaac as producer of this project based upon his musical genius and knowledge of melody, chord progression and music production. He will make final decisions on everything, as well as shape the final product.
The money that is acquired from this fundraiser will be put towards use of the Celtic Music Centre and its recording equipment from April 18-22, 2011, as well as musician travel costs and expenses, production and mastering costs, album artwork, and CD duplication.
Thank you so much for your contribution and continued support!
