Snap Dot onto your iPhone 4 and in an instant you can capture fully immersive 360-degree videos and share them with anyone.
Hey Kickstarter-onians,
Thanks for checking out our project! We call it Dot.
It’s a stylish, durable and downright pocketable 360º (panoramic) lens attachment and app for the iPhone 4.
What does it do?
Dot lets your iPhone capture immersive, fully navigable, panoramic video in real-time - and share with friends on your phone, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, or streamed online using our awesome panoramic video web platform and player.
Cool, right?
We're excited too. Why? Because we're uber lazy, and we'd rather put down the camera and enjoy the party. We're making a bet you will too. (Not that we think you're lazy...)
But seriously, our secret beta testers have already had a lot of fun taking it to concerts, the park, on moped rides in Italy, and showing cramped apartments to mothers halfway around the world.
So? Well, up until recently it took major moolah and hefty gear to make a decent panoramic video. Now all you need is your phone and the world around you.
We haven’t slept much.
We’ve spent the past few months researching, designing, prototyping and coding. This means we have working hardware and software prototypes. Now we need your help to finish the 2nd phase of engineering around the lens and begin tooling for volume production.
Let's do it!
We’re excited to bring our cutting-edge (read: magical) panoramic technology to a much wider audience – and even more excited to see what you guys will do with it.
Thanks for your support.

You can save video locally, upload it later, or stream live to kogeto.com.
The video is captured at 1080P, though after dewarping vertical resolution is somewhere near 1280x352.
Obviously resolution will increase as new iphones (and later android devices) incorporate higher resolution cameras.
Hope this answers your questions. Keep an eye on our website (kogeto.com), and check out the Dot samples!

Right now Dot is for the iPhone 4 and the 4S. The cameras in the 3GS, iPod Touch, and iPad aren't quite high enough quality to capture panoramically. We look forward to Apple putting out more iOS devices with even better cameras, and we'll make Dots for them, definitely.
We also plan to come out with Android versions later in the year. -
We designed Dot to place the screen face down because, in our testing there wasn't much gained by looking at the screen other than ensuring that the video contains someone staring at the display. Instead, we encourage people to "put down the camera and enjoy the party."

We have launched our sharing platform at www.kogeto.com/dotspots; with it you will be able to share navigable panoramic videos like the ones on our site with your friends via facebook, twitter, or embedded into your own site.

I suspect your film might not be properly calibrated. Have a look at these diagrams and let me know if this is what you're experiencing.

Another problem is that your phone might not be focusing properly. If you're holding your phone or have it set down somewhere, just tap the screen in order to refocus it when you begin filming.
Focus and calibration will be automatic in the new software, along with other changes.
Are your videos roughly this quality: http://www.kogeto.com/dotspots/7XS2X2RMU6Y5
This is a video just taken on the 4S with the same model that you've received. -
