20 years is a long enough time to write a good record. We think we did it, and it's called "Ardor." Now we just need to make it real.
For two years, all we have wanted to do is finish this record. There have been hurdles, cheap shots, protracted periods of financial ruin, and now we're eyeballing the finish line but our peg leg came off at the previous mile marker. It was hard enough being a peg leg pirate in a marathon, but this is just getting crazy.
We, Dorian, have a lyric present in a few places in the record: "This is a war." It began as a symbolic lyric about the struggles of love, but came to represent this process of recording our art. What we want, now, is to finish what we started. We're close. So close we can taste it. We want to win this war. What's left?
Mastering and duplicating physical copies. We've gotten pretty far on our own, we think, but there's some things better left to...erm...professionals that we just don't have the financial means for. There are a few options the band is deliberating on for mastering engineers, and the album art is coming along by Aaron Hatch, a designer based in Brooklyn, NY with a sparkling visual library behind him. The engineer and the artist can wrap up their work, and thusly, this record, as soon as we can pay them what they're worth. Or something close to that value.
