I am a designer. I like to make things.
Products are my focus, but I find myself continuously exploring other media. Interfaces, packaging, conferences, writing, videos, & branding are all fair game and enrich my product design work.
Don, I sent you an email a few days back about my cracked tip and haven't heard anything. How can I order some new ones?
chris@ULIKO - Shoot me an email at info@more-real.com
Don, my rubber tip is cracked...any way to obtain a replacement tip? Love the stylus!
@Charlene A great place to buy Fineliners online is Discount Office Items. Here is the link: http://goo.gl/Prces
Does anyone know where I can find the Pilot Fineliner pens? I can't seem to find them anywhere.
Any word Don on when we can order more caps or find them in stores? Have several friends who regret not jumping on this project after they tried my pens.
Just got a personal email from Don. They sent a replacement, but I moved (to somewhere close by) but never received it. All is well in the world again. Thanks, Don, for the follow-up.
@Dustin Secrest Just sent an you email.
Still waiting. I received an empty box months ago. Reported it. Nothing. at. all.
Still waiting too...
I'm amazed at your tenacity, and proud to know you personally. Good job, Don. Be careful what you wish for, huh? Love you! Keep that chin up!
Still waiting...
Sorry Don,
my mistake, product is here!
I'm waiting...
Hi don! Got use to using the tip for writing the hard one with less drag works.
IT RIPPED THOUGH, CAN I GET ANOTHER SENT PLEASE?
I take exceptional care of all of my I devices and the accessories so I can't see anyway I caused it, but there is a big tear in the only stylus tip I use.
I would really really appreciate it if you could send a replacement tip to me soon.
I'll give you my mail info in your response. By the way, I've spread the word about your tips to the university bookstore in Madison WI , they liked it, hopefully you'll get some more sales out of it!
Thank you,
Kyle Stasiak
Don,
Out of the ashes came the phoenix-tips. Your family must be so proud of you. :)
So I've been reading the reviews and what struck me as significant was how the slow and fast tips ranked with the backers. I think it's wonderful that what appeared at first to be a real problem turned into a wonderful opportunity. I am a fan of the harder tip, but I can see the advantage of the slow tip. It made me slow down. I had to think about what I was drawing, focus on it, pay attention.
I love the weight of the stylus. It feels right. I received the Brass 3 pack, and I thought I would like the Pilot fineliner the best b/c that's what I like to use on paper, but the Bic works/feels the best for me. I don't know anything about styluses (or "styli"), this is my first one. Is there a sensitivity difference between the brass and the steel? I have found the response time is a little slow and it does not seem to like the edges of the iPhone.
The packaging held up very well, and the reason I was so diligent about picking up the mail was to see that colored box in my mailbox. Kickstarter is a wonderful forum. I'm betting you have learned more than you have ever wanted to know about logistics. And through it all, you persevered and created something wonderful. I look forward to seeing your future projects.
Have a great new year,
Melissa M. M.
received in australia. don't be too excited about it. you'll just be disappointed.
Anyone in Australia got theirs yet?
I received my brass sharpie stylus. Although its been a while coming I am still satisfied with the outcome. I love this forum to help designers and others achieve their goals and hopefully create jobs in the process ( Or at least help someone achieve their dreams).
Keep going strong kick starter!
Thanks Don for your hard work and best luck for the future.
Happy Holidays Everyone !!!
Thought I should post publicly - Don responded within a couple of hours of my last comment with confirmation that my stuff had gone out via UPS last week, so I don't expect it to make it to me before Xmas. Shame, but it's on it's way. Yay!
And also to reword my previous comment, I meant that I didn't mind if there were production or shipping delays, as long as I knew about it. Saying I didn't care, was in fact, incorrect and a bit shouty, which wasn't my intention... *Sits by window waiting for Brown Van*
Received my "fast tip" - really, really fantastic. Works like a charm. Thanks for all you're doing, and for taking the brunt of all the grumpypants' not-so-constructive complaints in stride.
@jackling you know you got pens with the caps right?
Got my Brass fineliner the other day, thanks for getting it out before christmas! It works great (with a little more pressure than i imagined, though it may just be my screen protector causing issues). Great to have two tips to switch between depending on what mood im in.
Is it just me or is there anyone with a problem fitting the brass cap to the bic pen? The brass cap won't fit past a few mm into the bic ball point pen. After testing more than 20 pens at a local bookstore, I fount one that fit (just) : a Stabilo Liner 808F.
The Sharpie brass caps won't fit on all Sharpie markers either. I've tried 4 Sharpies, and only 1 was tight (apart from the Sharpie that came with the package).
Another issue is that the engraved part is pretty rough (i.e. burrs). I would have expected the finishing to be better than this, being "Made in the USA".
This was the first Kickstarter project I backed, but the fourth to arrive! I understand that not all Kickstarter projects are near completion when posted, and have also learned not to expect too much. Some projects were above expectations (I love the Cineskates!), while others fall short. This project is more a work in progress and I am glad to have contributed to those buying version 2 of MORE/REAL Stylus Caps.
Got mine here in Canada. Pleased.
Okay, still waiting for Brass Sharpie and Stainless pack. I'm now getting a tad fed up with seeing people receiving replacement tips whilst a lot of us are still waiting for anything at all. It's a full 9 months on and 3 weeks since the last update. Two minutes Don. That's all you need. I don't care if there's a delay in X,Y or z - just as long as I'm kept informed. In time for Xmas?
Bah. Humbug!
Just received my brass cap and couldn't be happier. I like the soft tip for browsing on the iPad. Nice heft to the cap also. Packaging was very good as well. Thank you.
Awesome! I have to say great job on sending out the replacement firm tip! Thats what I was looking for. The Bic is a bit heavy and the slow tip just kept making it stick. I was sliding all over the pad last night! Thanks Don! I still want to figure out a way to loose a few grams though.
Got my bronze sharpie cap and it's great! I like the "slow" tip. I also like the creative packaging! Thanks!
...still haven't received mine yet...?
Hey Don!
I just got back from China, and arrived home to see our Stylus packs here! Beautiful. They work great too; very happy with them!
Just rcvd the brass stylus cap. The packaging is fantastic, reminds me of some of the Apple product packages. The cap feels very nice, solid and comfy. The tip takes a little adjustment to use properly, but I think that it will work out fine. Congrats on a great job!
I agree with "pu koh"; tips are crap. I put another tip from a wacom stylus on my stainless/Bic tip and it works so much better. Would love for More/Real to ship new tips.
Received the caps today... absolutely stunning. They write pretty well too. I received the brass versions and they have a nice weight to them: http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j371/RAPFOA1/StylusCaps.jpg
@susan Cho. IIRC you are getting the tips when all the caps have been shipped.
Curious about when those of us who received our stylus caps before the new tip will be getting the firm tips. I've been dying to try them out (the soft tip is so terrible for sketching for me), and I know those who are receiving them now are getting both tips. I realize it's a little selfish of me to ask when so many people haven't even received their caps, but you did mention the firm tips would go out soon after shipping started again. Thanks.
soft tip is way too grippy. and (too much) pressure is required to make the hard tip work. Caps are excellent. tips are crap. maybe you can develop new tips after you send the rest of the orders out.
Outter Packaging withstood the handling to australia. but the tips weren't in their holders.
When will the european stuff go out? thx for your update. impatience is evil.. :)
Need an update. I ordered the $25 brass Sharpie and have not got anything yet.
Thanks for getting my brass Sharpie to me this week. Very cool. I'm finding it difficult to write with eith stylus tip. The angle has to be almost straight up and down to get it to write. I hope with time it gets easier but something you might want to consider for the future is focusing on a tip that is easy ti write with for those of us that use iPads etc for meetings etc.
Love the look though and it draws pretty well.
The other issue which has nothing to do with your stylus is that most people I know use screen protectors which can affect the outcome of the drag or pressure it takes to write.
Thanks again Don, I will enjoy seeing what you invent next!
Hi Don, I was delighted to find my Stainless Steel Sharpie Cap in the post today, here in Scotland. The quality and weight of the cap is excellent and I've really enjoyed sketching with the faster tip. I like both tips but prefer the new tip. I've said before and I'll say again that I bought into this project to learn and support a new venture. You've been pretty good at keeping us up to date given the pressures and I've learned a lot. I didn't mind the wait. The stylus in my view is not a universal stylus, it's great for sketching, but I would possibly pick another tool for handwriting. That's cool, because that's what we do with real drawing/writing implements! Don't be disheartened by the occasional impatient or doubting comment. EVERY Kickstarter campaign I've followed has been the same and I think that says as much about human nature as the process! I wish you every success with More/Real for the future. Good luck Don!!
Just got my stainless 3-pack. I actually prefer the slow tips to the fast ones. These are exactly what I had been hoping for. Good work Don.
got the stainless 3-pack friday - it works better than any other stylus! perfect!
Just received my caps, couldn't be happier. I see what the issue was with the slow tips but I feel that if/when they wear down they will feel much better. The fast tips are nice, have to press down a little more than with other styluses but I really appreciate the harder feel of the tip much more than any other stylus I've used. Very happy!
Thanks Don!
@Dave, I never meant what I said to be an insult or retort of any kind. If thats how it came across, I apologize. What I was trying to say was to basically calm down (beer is supposed to be calming :) ). I knew Don would come through for us, but forcing his hand wouldn't really help anyone. You'd end up with a bad product and a frustrated designer that wasn't given the time to develop a good product which is what kickstarter is all about, right? Anyway, I hope you have a great holiday! Enjoy your caps!
Hi Don, I just received my stainless Sharpie cap here in the Netherlands! Very cool, much appreciated!
Don, we are out of town for two weeks over Christmas. We have backed the Stainless $55 pledge and I was wondering if we'll be home by the time it arrives. I live in Toronto, Canada.
What ship date do you anticipate for Canadian orders?
9 Months is a loooong time... sad that you prioritized the US backers and let the international bunch wait, forever...
You rarely update, which is even more frustrating!
I almost forgot I ordered this... and I was really looking forward to using it... now I will dredge the day I have to go stand in line to pay taxes on it, instead of being amped.
I love the product idea, and I appreciate the effort, your lack of communication though is where things fall apart.
Fineliner brass stylus received in the uk. Thanks Don. Package totally in tact, stylus was floating around inside but no harm done. Only used it briefly with the firm tip as supplied and I'm very pleased with how it feels.
Slightly more pressure is needed to draw than I expected and there is an amount of friction but I don't think either will be an issue once I get used to it. Will report more when I've had a little more time with it.
@Drew. It's hard to appreciate his "hard" work when we're not seeing the fruits of the effort. And his lack of communication when the chips were down was disheartening. The only reason he posted that last update when he did was because he was urged by Kickstarter to post an update at the urging of myself and others here.
Oh, and any validity you might have had with your comments went out the window the moment you shared your lame and immature personal attack against me am the others in our mother's basement. Something tells me you wouldn't be so bold in person, so maybe keep those comments to yourself.
I'm using my Stylus Cap right now to tap out this message! I'll post more later, just wanted to pop on here and say I like it and I'm having a ball scribbling all over my iPad with it. Thanks, Don!
