WELCOME TO OUR WORLD

It has been nearly 50 years since the fey crossed over and started to inhabit our world.  We had troubling times for a spell, but tensions slowly eased over the years.  Reservations of fairies, trolls, and all manner of fey now dot the map.  The orcs of the Anasazi Sunhold have made a life for themselves in the Santa Catalina Mountains, just outside of Tucson, Arizona. 

One of the first orcs born in this world was Grok Bloodface.  Grok loves many things about our culture, such as movies, music, and football, but also strives to hold on to his heritage and is learning to pass traditions on to the children of his tribe.  As a side effect, he also recognizes the opportunity to reach out and share his culture with us, the humans of the world.  This is where our story begins.

In this series of video presentations, Grok will share the stories of his people, stories that we know as fairy tales, but told as the orcs have been telling them for many generations.  We need your help to make it happen.  Thank you so much for your support!

WHAT AN EPISODE LOOKS LIKE

Each episode will start with a basic introduction.  Grok will likely be in someplace like his cabin or a lodge with evidence of his culture surrounding him such as art, tribal fetishes, and other trophies.  He might have a chair, a fire pit, or something for show and tell.  This will be a ‘real’ set.  He will give you a brief introduction to the story.  Then his story and the illustrations will begin with Grok periodically appearing throughout.  Then, Grok will close out the show with some final thoughts, such as a bit of advice or wisdom.  The costume will be different.  What you see in the sample was cobbled together from Goodwill, Michaels, and whatever we could find.   This is just a technical sample after all.

ILLUSTRATIONS

To illustrate the videos in this way we will be asking Aaron Miles to produce hundreds of images.  This will keep him busy for quite some time.  These images, along with images of Grok in his environment, will also be available in various reward packages.

REWARDS

These rewards can be found in various pledge packages in various combinations.  Physical deliveries at these pledge levels can only be made within the United States.  For physical rewards outside of the United States, additional shipping charges will apply. 

• Postcard. Grok will send you a postcard to from his reservation to say Thank You!
• Picture of Grok.  This 8x10 celebrity head shot will be signed by Grok Bloodface and sent to you.
• Digital Downloads.  Some packages allow you to download your very own personal copy of either episode 1 or the entire season in either mobile or standard resolution, which will either be 5 or 10 episodes, based on what kind of budget you give us.
• DVD. This physical copy will contain all of the episodes of season 1 and special features.
• Gift Packs.  Get your holiday and birthday shopping done early.  Our gift packs will let you take care of your entire gaming group or other geeky friends in one pledge.
• Art Prints.  You and the rest of the backers will help us narrow down a selection of prints for you to choose from.  The finalists will be a mix of the illustrations by Aaron Miles and some photos of Grok in his cabin.  Unless otherwise stated, prints will come without matting or frames.
• Behind the scenes ‘making-of’ video.  This video, weather on DVD or by download will only be available through pledge or purchase.  You’ll see the crew behind the set doing what they do to bring Grok to life and telling their story of what it took to make Tales of an Orc.
• Story EBook – The stories Grok tells will be written down, illustrated, and sent to you electronically.
• Orcs EBook - Learn more about modern orc culture and other fey that live in our world.  Their culture is rich with tradition and lore.
• Hard Cover Story Book – If this book is made available, it will be signed and personalized by Grok, himself.
• T-Shirt.  We have two designs to choose from so far.  One is ‘Grok the Orc.’  The other is the Anasazi Sunhold Reservation T-Shirt.
• limited edition decorated mug.  This limited run of mugs will be available only to a select group of backers.
• Mousepad.  Grok will be pictured in his storytelling environment on your desktop to keep your computer mouse company.
• Grok's Head.  This isn't really grok's head.  We would rather keep him alive.  This is actually a replica on a wooden base with a name plate.

OUR GOAL

Our initial goal is to help Grok tell 5 stories.  Each video will be just a few minutes in length but will reveal Grok, orc tradition, the modern orc culture, and life on an orc reservation.  They will be available in digital format, printed to DVD, and launch a new world where we will live alongside spectacular beings like Grok.  Our required investment to make this happen is $30K.

STRETCH GOALS

For $45K, we can double our story count.  10 videos will make for a nice comfortable season length.  We already have the make-up designed and the stage set up.  It would be a shame not to get everything we can out of it. 

For 60K, we will do a run of story books.  We will already have the stories and the art.  Now we can lay them out and make books available.

As goals are met, new goals will be unlocked. While we were inspired to bring just one orc to life, we have dreams to build on this world in many ways.  We have a lot of great characters and projects just waiting for their time to rise.  Grok also has aspirations of doing another string of videos.  Funds generated beyond our stated goals will go toward the development of these projects.
