Michael, Can you please make an effort to update the backers on this project at least once a month? We are close to a year after successful funding with little results.

      Hi Maria,
Thanks for the encouragement! Genmaicha is one of my absolute favorite. It tends to be my go-to variety whenever I'm in doubt of what to drink.

      Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for the update! Everything looks great. Good to see you take set-backs in stride and find ways to overcome them!

Drinking a cup of genmaicha right now, thinking about how much better it's going to be when I don't have to worry about over-steeping :)

      Cheers,
      Maria

      Hey, Michael,
I appreciate that you don't want to spam our inboxes with updates without much content, but personally, I'd rather see a once-monthly or bi-weekly update of "I'm continuing to work with the manufacturers on [x component], and making sure we work out the bugs" than weeks upon weeks of silence. After all, if you don't post an actual update, I don't necessarily come here and check the comments to see what the status is.
Just my two cents. Hope things are proceeding well for you, and that you're having a good start to your winter (and doubtless looking forward to winter break at school).

      Hi Grant,

No, I haven't taken to the hills for a holiday. I've been working on teadrop though I didn't think there was much to show for my work since the last update, which is why I haven't written another yet. I will write one later today about the progress that has been made. It has really been two steps forward, one back with this project but I can assure you, progress is being made.

      Thank you for your patience.

      Michael

Nope, not me, surprised as well (maybe someone else changed his backing?). But as long as this product will be made, I don't care too much :)

Michael was that you? is that legal?

This is a really great idea. I know every time I made a cup of tea at work, something would come up and I'd have to step away from my desk. By the time I got back my tea would be too far gone.

Thanks Michale! Sounds great! (A bit of residue is fine, it's the pieces of rooibos floating through my tea) I look forward to seeing it!

      Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your support! Comments like your's make my day. I'm really glad that you like teadrop and hope that we can make it a reality.

To answer some of your questions:
Teadrop will be dishwasher safe. This is one of my top priorities and I have been communicating with manufacturers to ensure that it will be dishwasher safe.

I will attempt to make the filter as fine as possible while still maintaining optimal functionality. Hopefully, this will not leave much residual tea after it has steeped. You can be assured that we will conduct thorough testing with different varieties of tea. Although, as a side note, a bit of residue isn't bad for you at all.

Regarding sound. Teadrop will ring when done. I realize that this is not optimal for everyone, however, it was a design decision that favors the majority of people. We are working to make teadrop's ring distinctive and pleasant rather than a harsh ring found in other timers though so hopefully this will be acceptable for you. In the future, if we release a digital version we will consider an option to turn the sound off. For the first mechanical version though it will not be possible.

Thank you again for your support. Please help spread the word about teadrop any way you can.

      Michael

Finally! I am so prone to starting tea and then forgetting it! I must have wasted hundreds of dollars on over-steeped tea! I too love loose leaf teas, and more then just the tons of varieties, the ability to make your own variety by mixing multiple teas!

Couple of thoughts for you Michael, I hope that all of this is dishwasher safe – that is what I hate about my current tools is it is hard to clean out. Also, I hope the filters are small enough to keep out extra bits of tea – something I don't like about most tea filters. Finally, is there a way to have no sound or dampen the sound? Making tea in the morning I don't want to wake everyone with my timer!

Just some thoughts! Looking forward to seeing teardrop succeed!

      Thanks!

      Kevin
