Welcome to the world of Victoria & Albert.

Our film is a comedic coming of age tale about Albert Crane, a young man with big dreams. Albert wants to be The Greatest Lover The World Has Ever Known. His plan to achieve this? To steal a thousand dollars from his stepfather to purchase one hour with an upscale call girl.

We didn't say it was a good plan. But it is one that Albert is totally committed to.

The film is a raunchy, smart and sincere look at the hormones and passions that drive a young man's pursuit of sex, only to realize that what he really needs is love.

Short films are not commercial endeavors. You do not have financial "investors" as a short film has no real way of making money. This project is about our community. It is about our professional family and the audience we want to make laugh and cry.

Making a film, even a short, is a complicated business. It requires crew, equipment, location fees, costumes, set design, props, hair and makeup, food, and other direct cost related to production and post production. It all adds up.

We've been incredibly fortunate to have people involved who believe in this project. They have given both their time and their financial resources. The original plan was to shoot the film this August but we just weren't satisfied with our selection of Alberts.  Some wonderful young actors certainly, but no Alberts. It was better to wait. (And we think we may have actually found him since!)

So now the start date is the first week of October. The funds of the crowd-funding campaign will go to the deferred costs from the shoot, post-production and the distribution of our story, all vital and costly steps of any film.

VICTORIA & ALBERT: THE STORY

Albert Crane is a young man with a plan:  to become the greatest lover the world has ever known.

After reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell,  Albert learns that this feat will require no less than 10,000 hours of practice.  Not wanting to invest “six months to get an unenthusiastic hand-job,”  Albert finds himself a high-end call girl to jump start his journey to legendary status.

Her name is Victoria.  And she is not at all thrilled to find a teen, sporting an ill-fitting tuxedo and a hopeful grin,  standing in her penthouse hallway.

But Young Albert cannot be deterred.  Once he charms his way past her door,  the events that follow will touch them both and  change Albert’s life, forever.

THE LOOK OF THE FILM:

The film takes place in an adult world, a world that Albert does not belong in.

To reflect this, the cinematography,  production design, and costume work will create a modern, clean look which is as intoxicating as it is intimidating.

VICTORIA & ALBERT: THE TEAM

Martin Desmond Roe (Director, Co-Writer)

Martin is a graduate of Oxford University and the University of Southern California Film School.

Since graduating, he has worked in almost every aspect of film production, including directing music videos for artists such as Mint Royale and Mark Ronson, producing and directing commercials for companies and artists such as Dell, Deloitte, and Franz Ferdinand. and editing three features, including the upcoming Disconnected for MTV Films.

He is also Partner and Co-Founder at Dirty Robber,  a Los Angeles based production/post-production company that has managed over 80 projects in the last year.

For Martin, the soul of cinema has always resided at the point where work will both entertain and challenge an audience.  As the co-writer and director of Victoria and Albert, he hopes to delight people and give them something to think about.

Annabella Casanova (Actress, Co-Writer)

Anabella moved to London after High School to pursue a degree in international politics. She was promptly derailed by the West End and moved back to Los Angeles to be an actor.

Upon her return, Anabella was immediately cast in the Warner Brothers original web series, Sorority Forever, playing the evil head of house, Bridget Reynolds. She then played Jane in See Jane Date for Anonymous Content, where viewers were allowed a hand in the storytelling by voting on who she should date.

She then starred in two back to back features; Maskerade, a horror film set in the bayou of Louisiana, and the soon to be released Stealing Las Vegas, a Roger Corman produced film where she stars opposite Eric Roberts. Most recently she played the sassy British love interest of Mark Paul Gosselaar on a new series for TNT,  Franklin and Bash.

As co-writer and lead actress of Victoria and Albert,  Anabella is excited to see her character,  Victoria,  through from inception to completion.  It is an experience few actors have the privilege to enjoy.

Ryan Lough (Producer)

Ryan is a graduate of Southern Oregon University and the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

After several years of international production experience, Ryan has worked to become an award-winning producer of film and commercial content.   As a producer, production manager and production consultant, he has worked with Universal, Warner Horizon, 20th Century Fox, Curb Records, and a host of others. In early 2010, he became Head of Production at Dirty Robber, and most recently was one of the U.S. producers on the film Buskashi Boys, shot entirely on location in Kabul,  Afghanistan.

For Ryan, Victoria and Albert is another opportunity to really own a production from start to finish, to nurture a young and talented director and to produce content of his own choosing in which he believes totally.

Dirty Robber is a family of outlaws and artists dedicated to the craft of the moving image. A full service production and post production company, Dirty Robber uses technology and ingenuity to communicate the collective vision for each project at a budget that makes sense.

Dirty Robber is located in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles, California.
