Since 1975, Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble has been presenting cutting-edge music of both late 20th century masters and 21st century composers from around the globe.  The ensemble frequently features world premieres, commissioned pieces, and first U.S. or Boston performances. Members of the ensemble perform regularly with Boston’s finest musical organizations, including the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, Boston Ballet, Handel & Haydn, and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. The players’ individual artistry, knowledge of contemporary techniques, and finely honed teamwork deliver consummate performances to composers and audiences alike. The ensemble works collectively with Co-Artistic Directors Yu-Hui Chang and Sue-Ellen Hershman-Tcherepnin.

Why are we going?

We’ve been invited to perform at the 10th International Beijing Modern Music Festival in May 2012.  This Festival presents performances of contemporary music by renown soloists, ensembles, and orchestras from around the world. The Festival has commissioned three new works by Chinese composers Xu Suya, Qu Xiaosong, and Ye Xiaogang for us to premiere. In addition to these three new works, we will showcase the music of three prominent American composers - John Harbison, Yu-Hui Chang, and Scott Wheeler.  With your support, Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble can bring these exciting works to life on the world stage in Beijing.

What’s it going to cost?

Total expenses: $17,325 . 

Airfare $10, 825

Boston rehearsals $6,500.  

The Festival will provide accommodations and concert fees. 

We have already raised $14,000 towards this project, and need to raise an additional $3,325. 

Will you get charged right away?

No – not until we reach our goal.  This fundraising effort ends at Midnight, February 29th.  If at that time the pledges meet or beat our goal, then you’ll get charged.  If we don’t reach our goal,  you won’t get charged.

April 30: Begin rehearsals in Boston
May 17: Depart for China
May 19: Festival begins. Start rehearsing with the commissioned Chinese composers
May 22: Dinosaur Annex Premiere Performance in Beijing
May 23: Depart for USA
