About this project
Hello, fellow Kickstarters! My name is Devin DiMattia and I'm currently working on a feature-length documentary called "Firewall of Sound," which will focus on the Internet and its ever-changing relationship with the independent music industry.
Our film will look at a wide variety of topics, including file sharing and music piracy, the exponential growth of music blogs, the recent revival of the vinyl format, and more. We will also focus on how specific artists are making names for themselves in this brave new world, either by utilizing unconventional ways of promoting themselves or by finding new ways to distribute their music (several musicians have already taken advantage of Kickstarter to do just that!)
We've already been to Chapel Hill and Durham, NC as well as Athens, GA, but we want to go to other places as well, like Boston, New York City, and Chicago. But in order to do that, we need money for a few things, namely:
• Equipment rental
• Blank DV tapes
• Gas money
• Food (crew's gotta eat)
• A small stash of emergency funds for when Murphy's Law starts to rear its ugly head
