What is "Die Hard for the National Film Registry"?

In January we started a campaign called “Die Hard for the National Film Registry.” Through Twitter and other social networking sites, we went about informing people what the National Film Registry was all about and how they were set up more than 20 years ago to help honor and preserve classic films.

The Registry's board each year selects up to 25 films each year, based on their criteria which states a film must be at least 10 years old and “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” The board accepts recommendations via email from anybody and they take them seriously, so then we set about asking people to send their votes in for DIE HARD. Yes, the 1988 action classic. It’s not in the Registry, but it’s a worthy candidate. 

Who is Garry Brown?

"DieHardNFR" deemed it necessary to create a kick-ass DIE HARD poster, celebrating the film and the campaign. There was only one artist we had to go to: Garry Brown. 

Garry Brown is a Scottish illustrator currently working in California and has worked for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW, Boom! 200ad and Dark Horse. He graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in 2010 and is currently doing cover art for BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse and IDW. He is the regular interior artist for Brian Woods’ The Massive. 

The DIE HARD Poster

Previously, Garry had drawn a spectacular DIE HARD sketch. 

Garry went about creating an original piece for "DieHardNFR." One that perfectly captures the feel of the action classic. 

It is 18x24, printed on high quality poster paper, running at a limited edition of 150, with each poster being individually numbered.

This poster above is not final, as it needs the film's credits added in, but this is close to what you will be receiving.

For the $40 level, Garry Brown will personally sign your poster.

At the $60 level you will receive the signed poster, plus a 11x17 inch Garry Brown ink print on comic board from his collection. Also that the original art is ink on 11x17 comic board.
