An independent short film from SUNY Purchase film grad Daniel Ferrara about a group of high school friends re-united in Montreal, Canada.
Montreal: 320 is the story of three high school friends re-united. Marc and Emma drive up to Montreal from New York to visit Rob, Marc's childhood friend and Emma's boyfriend. Along with their friend Christie, the group sets out for a night on the town. Confined in a foreign city, often inside a car, the group is somewhat thrown into a “friendship incubator”. Their true feelings about each other emerge as the night goes on through fights with the local homeless, an encounter with drug dealers, and a scene in which Marc and Rob are dared to kiss each other. It is very much a piece of situational social comedy that occurs over the period of 24 hours with these four characters. Its thematically similar to my most recent film MICKEY, which you can see examples of on my Vimeo page.
The script, which has had various drafts over the last two years, is 27 pages long. The finished piece will have an approximate run-time of 30 minutes. Much of the film will be shot in New York due to budget considerations, but there will be a shoot on location in Montreal, Canada. It will be shot using a professional HD camera at 1080p. We are in the final stages of casting now and have taken the time to really find the right people for the roles. These actors are working unpaid, and hopefully their performances in this piece will help them find future success.
Montreal: 320 is a cast of 7 and a crew of 10. We have some equipment already. The pledged money will be used mostly to feed, transport, and house this group of incredibly talented individuals over the course of 7 shoot dates. It will also be used to pay for the remaining equipment rentals, such as lenses, lighting and sound equipment. Anything left over will be used to produce the DVDs and various other rewards for you fine folks. A blog will be kept throughout the shoot and will be used to post news, production stills, and behind-the-scenes footage to keep sponsors up to date.
More information will be continually posted about the project on our blog. To find out more about myself and my previous work, please visit my Vimeo and IMDb pages. Examples of cinematographer Steve Levine's work can be seen here, at Steve's Vimeo page. Thank you for your interest, and we hope you'd like to be part of this exciting project!
