About this project

Here at Destination DIY, we have some great ideas for our next season of shows. We want to take on themes such as DIY Disasters, Old School DIY and fresh new stories on this year's most popular theme: I Made That!

If you've listened to the show and enjoyed it, and especially if you've ever been inspired to try something  — anything! — because of what you heard on Destination DIY, please consider lending your support to the next season of the show.

Destination DIY is a completely independent show. Our primary source of funding is listener contributions. Licensing fees from Oregon Public Broadcasting make up less than 3% of our overall budget.

Thank you SO much to for your interest and your support!

A litte more about Destination DIY:

Destination DIY is a radio show and podcast that has grown up in Portland, Oregon, where it began in 2006 as a half-hour monthly show on KBOO Community Radio. In 2010, Destination DIY began airing hour-long, documentary style shows on Oregon Public Broadcasting. For these intricate, carefully crafted shows, we hired a professional engineer, paid contributors around the country to produce original work and commissioned music from local Portland composers. Most of the funding for all this came from our awesome listeners. We want to continue to create quality audio programs in 2011 and we need your help to keep the momentum flowing! To listen to the 2010 episodes, please vist our web site. You'll hear about all kinds of innovative ideas in episodes with themes like DIY RItuals, DIY Economy, Representing Yourself and more!

About the boring Business Expenses:

In addition to our business license and P. O. Box, our business expenses include promotional materials (including postage), a small amount of advertising, tabling fees at events like the Portland Zine Symposium, membership fees to organizations like the The Public Radio Exchange, web hosting, mailing list maintenance, any web upgrades we can't do ourselves and the occasional business class/workshop we think will help us in our quest for sustainability. If there's anything left over, Julie and her assistant producer will also be modestly compensated for their time and effort. Feel free to email any questions you have about our budget to julie@destinationdiy.org
