Kickstarter

Having started a blog, Write and Get Paid, several years ago, I have gained a lot of knowledge about writing for a living. Writing is a high demand skill needed by all businesses; every business is online, or needs to be, and writing is one of the most constant needs every business has. This book, to be titled How to Write and Get Paid, will extend and expand on the blog, with lots of great information that I've found or learned and never had time to write about!  

This book has been at the back of my mind for several years. Every new person I meet asks me about how I earn a living writing, and how I got started. These questions cannot be answered in just a few sentences, and depend on many different things. For instance, what is the skill level of the person asking? What are their interests? What is their personal situation? Do they have the time and funds it will take to get their writing career started?

Self-publishing a book has a lot of up-front risks: the money raised with this Kickstarter campaign will help to defray some of the costs--book cover and design work, professional proofreading and editing, converting the book into an e-book format, and creating and funding a marketing campaign to sell both digital and physical versions of the book. 

Pledging is pretty simple. Just click on the big green button that saves "Back this Project" at the top of this page. This takes you to a customized pledge page, and then to Amazon to complete the pledge. If you have been around Kickstarter for awhile, you know that funding is ALL or NOTHING! For Kickstarter newbies, what that means is that I have to exceed my $2,500 funding goal in 30 days or NONE of the pledged money will be charged to backer's accounts or released to me. I made the goal very low to ensure that I can get enough seed money to get the project started, but marketing a book is a big and time-consuming project, and might cost up to $10,000 before a nickel in profit is made.
