TurboVote makes it easy to vote from home and sends text and email reminders so you don’t miss elections.
A democracy where less than half of people vote isn’t good enough. TurboVote can improve our democracy by helping more people vote more often. Check out our video and help us make TurboVote a reality.
What is TurboVote?
TurboVote is basically Netflix for elections. Here's how it works:
- Voters sign up at TurboVote.org. TurboVote then sends a completed vote-from-home application to the voter. It comes with a postage-paid and pre-addressed envelope, so it just needs to be signed and droped in the mailbox.
- The local election board receives the application and sends voters their ballot.
- TurboVote emails users what’s going to be on the ballot and sends text message reminders about election dates and other important deadlines.
Who is Democracy Works?
Democracy Works is Seth Flaxman, Kathryn Peters, and Amanda Kassel Craft - we're graduate students with previous experience in elections, information management, and philanthropy, and we believe that simplifying elections can allow voters to spend more time thinking about how to use their vote rather than how to vote. For the last year, together with the development expertise of Paul Schreiber and communications support of Charley Johnson, we've worked tirelessly to make this idea a reality.
But this isn’t about us. We’re committed to TurboVote because we are passionate about the promise of a better democracy; because we believe that if voting were more convenient, more people would do it.
We have each committed our time and our funds to this project, and we are asking you to do the same. Please reach out to us if you have any questions (how we'll be using your donation, or for details about our pilot program at Boston University, or why such a simple tool can be transformative, or just to say hello): firstname.lastname@example.org
