Entrepreneur - we agree that voting should be informed - and we're already developing information tools for our users so they can also read up on the candidates and the issues and be smarter voters. How many of us read over our sample ballots and research every choice - and remember everything we researched once we get to the polls? We strongly believe that being able to sit down at a computer and Google ballot initiatives, with the ballot in hand, will actually make more informed choices.

What we need are people to vote who understand the issues.. not people clueless people to vote because they are "supposed to" and its trivially easy.
It takes far more time to develop an informed opinion than it does to go someplace and vote. We don't need more people voting who know nothing about issue but were swayed by a flashy commercial or attractive candidate. Making it too easy to vote and nagging some to vote since its their "duty" even if they known nothing about the issue merely increases the votes of uninformed clueless people. Its their duty to *not* vote if they don't have an informed opinion. I think the risk of drawing in more uninformed people to vote since its so easy outweighs the slight benefit to the few informed people who can't be bothered to go to a polling place. Most political parties will help people get to a polling place if they lack transportation.
Voting at home increases the risk of someone being pressured by their spouse (or friends/family) to vote the way they wish.. rather than getting to use a secret ballot at a polling place all by themselves.
You folks would contribute to the dumbing down of society. You are also likely ignoring the many issues of security, and the existing players also competing trying to dumb down the vote via voting software.

Terrific!

This is really interesting, because I totally wouldn't think voting was a job or an errand that needed to to be run. I completely agree that more people would vote if it were more convenient. Good luck!
