About this project
Since the dawn of the Renaissance in the 15th century, artistic expression has always been the gateway to pinpointing the pulse of a period. Art serves as a cultural barometer utilizing visual tools in an effort to catalyze a social and psychological paradigm shift. These shifts have inspired some of history’s most important moments enabling societies to gain a glimpse into their soul through art. As we move through the twenty-first century, there has been a new call to recognize the vital impact that contemporary art has on popular culture. This call to action underpins the need for a new voice and visual vocabulary reflecting of the multicultural world, which has now become our new societal norm.
We present to you: ‘The Gift’! The brainchild of multi-dimensional artist, Delphine Diaw Diallo, ‘The Gift’ seeks to continue the tradition of dynamic artistic movements that challenge the psyche of humanity in the journey toward defining a new cultural voice for the 21st Century.
The Gift is an Art Book that will create a universal language of cultural expression that seeks to conceive a new mythical narrative daring to defy the status quo. "The Gift ' will also introduce the video project " the Gift NY" featuring artists living in New York City and establishes a connection between art and The Gift .
The Gift will reflect this new narrative that highlights a cultural gumbo propelling the next generation of humanity to create their own myths, traditions, rituals and icons.
Diallo’s multimodal method of cultivating a new perspective will reframe the religious, social and ideological pedagogy that has been ingrained into the societal subconscious.
The Gift is a viscerally evocative multimedia experience that will stir your spirit and tantalize your mind to aspire to new heights.

A new voice in new media. By Larry Ossei - Mensah
Excerpt from article Published for Uptown Magazine { August/September 2011}
Delphine Diallo has put the world on notice. The street buzz swirling around the creative powerhouse has sent collectors and gallerists into a frenzy. Diallo's work has been travelling the globe in exhibitions, including displays at New York's Rush Arts Gallery ( Curated by Hank Willis Thomas), the Museum of Arts and Design ( within the Stephen Burks exhibit " Are you a Hybrid?") , The United Nations ( featuring Wangechi Mutu, Chester Higgins, and Wahala Temi) Opera Gallery NY, as well as Officine Fotografiche in Rome.
Born in Paris to a French mom and Senegalese dad, Diallo has formindable mixed media talent. She incorporates photography, illustration, found materials and collage into her studio practice. After graduating from Academie Charpentier, School of Visual Art in Paris, Diallo toiled unfulfilled as a commercial graphic designer and animator working with well known artist as Manu Chao.She soon took a pilgrimage to her native Senegal, finding inspiration for her first major series, "Magic Photo Studio" featuring black and white family portraits that incorporate illustrations. Diallo believes the purpose of art goes beyond the artist. " As a creative person, you must [understand] that what you are doing is going to influence and inspire others," she says.
In 2007 Diallo moved to New York City, where her innovative gumbo caught the attention of many. In 2008, iconoclast photographer Peter Beard invited her to Botswana to assist in the creation of an art project for the Pirelli Calendar 2009. Her experience with Beard catalyzed her next few series, Renaissance (Africa), Queen of New York and the Great Vision ( Crow tribe Nation). Her unique perspective fuels the beauty, multiculturalism, and cliche free narratives presented in her work.
