Update #10: And so the year of camera on a string begins!
Hello everyone!
A new year has begun - the perfect time to begin the updates on cameraonastring.com! The plan is to add a new camera to the site every Sunday for all of 2011, so now you know when to look.
The first camera of the year is up. It had been placed at a bus stop in Schenectady, NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the ones that didn't make it back.
There are actually a number of cameras that have been put out since the last update. I've been sending them out to get developed and the turnaround time has been unbearably long, letting anxiety creep up. (Did they get lost in the mail? Are they ever coming back?!)
I've also realized my timing was a bit off to get this moving. The winter season is not so friendly to this project! Ah, well - you live and you learn, right?
Anyway, the challenges will not triumph over getting a new camera up each week, so start checking in. And best wishes in the new year!

Update #9: A quick update on where we are now
The first batch of camera on a string rewards went out today, so some of you should keep an eye out on your mailboxes!
For those of you in the $25 and up levels who haven't done this already, drop me a note and let me know if you want to go ahead and get your prints or wait to see what happens in the coming year.
More fun news: The cameras are in! And thanks to all of you wonderful people, we were able to get a few extra. Now it's a matter of hoping for some good (or at least dry!) weather to put them out in. Keep your fingers crossed with me. I'm itching to get some cameras out there just as much as I'm sure you're ready to see some more pictures!

Update #8: What to expect now...
Visit http://cameraonastring.com for the special thank you post for all of the lovely people who helped make the Kickstarter campaign a success.
I bet you all are wondering when the weekly updates with new cameras will begin... Here's what's going on:
Before any new pictures start showing up on the site, we have to wait for the funds to be processed and transferred, order and receive the cameras, etc. It's getting harder to find places to get the film developed at a reasonable price, so we're going to try sending them out, which adds some more turnaround time in the process before they get to be added to the site. We're probably looking at a few weeks, but once the ball gets rolling, you should be seeing new pictures each week!
We also have to wait for the funds to go through before rewards start getting sent out. For those of you who pledged $15, be expecting a request for your mailing addresses soon. For everyone who pledged $25 and up, start thinking about how you want your rewards to be filled - keep in mind, you'll get to choose from the photos already on the site as well as any to come in the next year!
Thank you all again!
Update #7: We just passed the funding goal!
We just passed the funding goal! I can't tell you all how excited (and surprised?) I am! Thank you to everyone who has helped out in any way - making pledges, spreading the word, offering words of encouragement... You all are great! I need to go jump up and down now... THANK YOU!
P.S. There are still 7 hours to go.... Any additional funding means more cameras in more places. :)
