About this project

A year ago, I wrote a short dark comedythriller about a man's conversation with Death. The idea was to quickly go into production, shoot, edit, submit to film festivals, wipe our hands and move onto the next project. Seven months later we were shooting, two months after that we were reshooting and now after my wallet has been drained and credit cards busted, the film is still in the editing phase.

The shoot required far more than we had anticipated and the costs and debts are piling beyond my expectations. The film still has quite a bit of editing remaining on top of compositing, color correction, sound design and music. Add that to the wonderful folks that still need to be paid for production and the costs become high. In actuality, we need about $10K to complete these tasks, but we went with $4K since it's all or nothing.

I couldn't be happier with how the story is unfolding. It's become somewhat of its own beast and I'm very proud of the beast it has become. The cast and crew were amazing and talented and made my job very easy. I know everyone involved would love to see the film finished and finished the right way, as it deserves to be. With your help, we can do that.

Take a look at the site, watch the trailer, become a fan on Facebook and Twitter, hang out, stay awhile. Thanks so much for watching and reading and giving this poor boy a chance.

Hey. I'm David. Last year, after ten good years in the advertising business, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go full steam ahead into the world of filmmaking. Countless TV commercial shoots, large and small, working directly with high profile film directors, DPs, and actors, has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience I wouldn't have had otherwise. I've even shared the camera on numerous occasions and given one direction to an Academy Award winner. Then I forgot my name for half an hour. Thirty seconds is drastically different from ninety minutes, but the process is all the same. In fact, I know I've been on sets twice the size as a standard film shoot. I've written and directed a few shorts and now for my first big effort, I've written The Man Who Would Live. It's a start and what I hope to be the gateway to something much bigger and brighter. The most important thing I've learned in the land of production is that if you surround yourself with a wonderful group of hard working and loyal people, you'll have a much better shot for success. If you're interested in helping or inquiring about me or my film, please give me a shout. Thanks for reading.
